Well, not a kite, but surf related
Just got back from a day out at the Spit, Stopped by Skypilot and got my bindings, figured it's blasting, why not give the new ride a go.
I'm 250lbs, kite was a 16m Scorpion set close to max power, wind was between 20-25mph, gusting to 30mph. Mostly fairly flat water with some 1 1/2 ft
chop then into about 2-3ft swells once you got out into the inlet. It took a little messing around to get the Scorpion set for the right amount of
power, but once I got it dialed in and going, what a board. On the flat water it holds a wicked edge, I actually had problems with accidental jumps
when edging to slow down and change directions. Really easy to control your direction and speed with different riding methods, When getting hit by a
gust and picking up way too much speed I was quite comfortable droping the kite low and edging hard, board bites in incredibly well and the kite fired
to the edge of the window, Upwind is good, not spectacular, but more than acceptable.
Down side, in the big chop and swells it took a bit to get used to the amount of bite the board had, when I slowed it down I could stick it no
problem, when I let myself pick up some speed I was either hopping off the swells or barely skimming over them, so it went from sloppy to biting hard,
to sloppy to biting. More than possible, but once again, it took some getting used to.
Once again though, a wicked experience, 4 hrs later I finally packed it in beaten and tired. But smiling ear to ear. Really happy about this as I
wasn't sure if the 130 was going to be big enough. Small board, big kite though sure equals a lot of fun.
