Circuit races were held with the wind giving the nod to 6 meter foils. The circuit races had to be held on the hard pack sand to even the playing field for the buggier s with small tires. Eli showed his skills and used a great buggy to win both the enduro and the circuit races. Thanks to Mark Thorn for helping me run the races and keep the scores.

I would like to thank Above It All Kite of Seaside OR for all the prizes and a great pizza feed. Our Buggy Camp host Phil Thompson once again made us all feel welcome, Thank you Phil.
The best pancakes were served up each morning by Dave Grimm. The evening meals were a pot luck with each camper taking turns with fresh grilled Salmon, Oysters, Tuna, chicken and hamburgers were just some of the afternoon delites. Another Thank You, goes again to Phil Thompson from the ladies at the beach, for bring a porta potty to the beach each day. Thanks to all the SOBB ambassadors that helped guide buggiers to the beach and buggy camp.

Thanks for a great time guys.We should how ever make all rules official.I remember Jon saying that We will be able to drop one out of 3 races to make Your scores look better just like in sailing. To bad We did 9 laps of practice just to find out it was a practice not a race.Then I went to freestyle thinking it was all over and snapped my lines just 2 min before real race begin.So I got last place in race I didn't even run.In the end We all know who was fastest and so on...I was little sad We didn't run next day in delta by the river as winds and condition where perfect,but I guess lieder couldn't make it to the beach so it would affect his scores by not racing and over all he would be in third place or so

Yeah, would have been nice to run a couple more races, I think all in all it was done fairly well. One more race would have probably established Slawek as the #2 competitor. I know he's faster, I just happened to cash in on his misfortune.

Good to run with such an awesome group of guys though, much was learned, more to be practiced as much as possible before the next event.

Thanks to all that made it possible, Eli, Jon, all the awesome guys in Buggy Town. Food was great, company was better. Counting down the days till next year.

Sorry that I did not make it clear on the race throw outs. In circuit racing we always had 3 races on Saturday and 2 races on Sunday then the trophy presentation and all headed home afterwards. That gave us the required 5 or more races to be able to use one as a through out. It gives the buggier that is consistent but got taken out by another pilot or had mechanical problems and missed a race, etc, etc a fair chance. We formed a club just for the purpose of racing and agreed on rules and set up race weekend dates and where. Then one or two of the members would take turns running a weekend race event and was responsible for the trophy s. The trophys were home made and a collection would be made before the races to pay for the material or for the store bought trophy's for the ones that were not crafty.
This was a recollection of past catamaran racing we used to do. But with the interest in the Northwest and BC maybe we could start a club that could do the same with buggy racing. I always enjoyed the Friday night run to a new race location and getting up early to see the race area and watch the course being set up. Then the planning of the course and what equipment was going to be the best for this location and on and on. Then the evening with all the I could have, he should have, we need to's be passed around the camp fire that night. You will learn more in two days of racing than a month of beach bugging. I still have that passion for racing and would like to hear your opinions. Is there room for all at the beach or dessert? Just for fun I thought I would ask.

Hey Jon,

I don't think it's a matter of if it can be done better, most of us are new to racing and simply need to learn the system. Looking at your chart I was trying to figure out where the 10 came from and didn't realize that it was my points total.

I'd be all over setting up a west coast race circuit, be warned though if we're running all over the place it'll eventually end up with you making a trip to Mud Bay. I promise I'll help clean your buggy though.

Bummed I missed out on the racing somehow, but then we were only there at the beginning of the week. I think on Tuesday I saw you guys starting to race where you had set up near the beach entrance but we had set up way down the beach where we were the previous day - no worries as we were only on the beach for a couple of hours that morning because we wanted to go off and do some tourist stuff in the afternoon anyway.

Any California Bay Area buggiers interested in getting together now and again to set up some informal racing? I know there's at least 6 or 7 of us around so let me know if you'd be interested?

I'm interested. Just tell me when & where.
Believe it or not, the largest group of buggiers probably live in the Bay Area.
So yeah, we should even have our own event too, similar to SOBB & DBBB.

Just what needs to happen, local clubs, grass roots racing, teaching, creating safer buggiers, sharing tips and techniques and building buggy camaraderie. Just think, we could have District racing at the local level and Regional racing between districts then on to Nationals. The National winners get a shot at the Worlds Cup and hopefully we could get some sponsorship from Manufacturers and Distributors to help defray some of the travel costs. Sounds like a lot of fun bugging to me.

So, when's the first race, winter winds are ugly around here, only area to run is Mud Bay, and this time of year it never truly dries out.

sunset is good....all the time, just look for sw or nw winds. I"ll pick you up from the air port

Hey guys - sorry been off the forum for a while. How about the next low tide on a weekend at Ocean Beach? Or any other suggestions?
