The Premiere Buggy Kite

Any thots on what the premiere buggy kite would be? At present, I'm using a Quadrifoil Comp XL, Blade III 3m, and LD 2.1. Flying mostly on grass on the wide open prairies in Western Canada so we experience gusty conditions. Looking for an engine that has good upwind ability and will soak up the gusts.

I also use all the kites on the snow and would consider this important for any new kite added to the quiver.

Thanks for the feedback.

It really depends on what you want out of the kite. Race kites are the best for buggying, but they are not as forgiving to fly. They require a bit more flying to get the most out of them. Since you are going to be using it on snow, I would stick with something rather blade like, for the lift. Personally I would fly a Mac Bego. Great lift, super stable and will hold the gusts rather well. On top of that, the mac has great upwind capability. It was recently compared (the mac 600 vs the bora 8.5) and in the same wind, the mac had better upwind performance. One more thing, this kite produces more power per dollar, and per square meter that any kite made on the planet. The 600 will fall right in between Flexi's Blade II 9.0 and Flexi's new Blade III 8.5 in power, being a 6 meter kite and costing just a little more than half. The 400 will land you somewhere in the neighborhood of the Blade 6.4, 6.6. And still at much less cost. The build quality is second to none.

Just my openion.

You might want to consider a depower kite like an Ozone Frenzy. I use on in the buggy and they are designed for snow kiting.
The Gin Yoz kites are also good (esopecially in gusty conditions) and can also be easily fitted on a depower system.
