Pansh Legend 4.5

:( Had bought my son a Pansh Legend 4.5 in June of this year. . After a long delay
, got to fly it Sunday at SLP. This kite would not fly to the top of the window in 10 to 15 mph. Down in the power zone did not fly out to the edge well either. Had no pull , no scudding .
Had a 4.0 buster---5.5 bullet---2.5 profoil out .
5.5 in static ---major kick a$$ scudding---4.0 great scudding
even the 2.5 profoil had more kick than the legend.
Question: anyone have this problem with their 4.5 Legend?
or did i just get one of those 1 in a 1000 lemons. Thanks

My 3.0m Legend is great.

Are you sure you don't have too much brake tension? My wants hardly any at all or else it is very hindered.

Check you lines first and make sure that they are even. If they are then you need to let out some on the brake lines. It sounds like the brake lines are too tight.

Yep, that sounds like break lines... Tie a knot 1/2 to 3/4 down your handles braded power lines. Attach your power lines there and make sure your break lines are on the furthest knot out.

Fly again...

I had to do the same thing with my blaze. I kept taking up the power lines till it flew good. Extra brakes just killed it. I only tap them to spin it ( I love doing spins) or to make it do a pivot turn. Without shortening the power lines the brakes were still too tight.

Took up the power lines----to get a good arc in the break lines.
over adjusted the first time---could not break the kite to the ground---readjusted with arc in the break lines --breaks to the ground but still as I said up in the top thread .
do not know enough about kites to adjust aoa . I have a pansh 5.0 ace and it pulls like a truck in 10-15 mph.
wonder if Pansh would take it back on a trade in ?

Thanks for the input :cool:Herb

Question is does it fly to zenith now? If it still does with loose breaks then your AoA is to high, which would also account for dificult launching. I wish some one was in the business of sewing custom bridle sets......

The Pansh ACE is a popular kite, put her up on eBay, should sell quick.
Let as know how it goes.

I hope you get it figured out. I see from your sig. that you have a few pansh kites. So that atleast tells me that the brand must be ok or you wouldn't have that many.

dlish, I have been into power kiting for 11 month, buggying. With the kites I have flown which are the ones listed plus the Pansh Legend 4.5, Here is a quick review of each.
2.0 slingshot--100 ft lines/w bar--good 2 line trainer, real fast.
pulled me in the buggy in 27 -- 30 mph winds--great kite 10 to 30 mph
2.5 profoil--75 ft lines/w handles , good 4 line trainer--good tug in 10 to 30 mph--great high wind buggy engine--personal best speed at 30.7 mph /w this kite in 27 to 32 mph winds
3.0 pansh legend--75 ft stock pansh lines/w handles--4 line-- good buggy kite 20 to 25 mph-- I believe it would perform a little better with 100 ft lines---all and all flies well
3.5 profoil---100 ft quad lines/w handles--this was my first kite --it took the abuse of pounding into the ground from a rookie -- kite has great power in 15 to 20--is quick turning--great buggy kite for that wind range
4.0 buster---75 ft quad lines/w handles-- I love this kite in a weird way--meaning slow to fill up at take off ---when its full though it is smooth power--a cruiser-- get locked in and enjoy the ride--wind range12 to 18 mph--also think would do better with 100 ft lines
5.0 pansh ace---100 ft quad lines/w handles-- pulls like a Mack truck--have had this kite out only once in 15 mph --would pull the bug side ways---so the jury is still out-- but static flying
what a horse--I suspect a 8 to 12 mph engine
5.5 bullet- stock flexi 25 meter quad lines/w handles-- this is also a great smooth buggy engine 8 to 15 mph--after 15 mph I put it away-- got snached out of the buggy one day in a gust.
all and all great kite.

all the above kites fly to the zenith--and out to the edges well.
the 4.5 legend will just not get it--thats in 10 to 15 mph
don't mean to sound like I am doging this kite just telling it like it is. will be going to Dead Bird Buggy Bash in a couple of weeks
will see if i can get someone to fly it and see what they think.

hoped that Helped----------------Herb

Try flying it as a 2 line and see if it works ??
Try moving the line set that you know works over from your Ace ?? Try the bad set on the Ace ?

Does the kite look like it is forming a " normal " looking shape or does it have a fold mid way or at the end ?

Thanks Herb for breaking it down for me. I've been at this only a few months at first I saw peoples sig's and all the kites they have and I thought they were crazy, but now I understand. 1 or 2 kites won't do it 4+ seems to be the magic #.

snowbird, will try what you suggested--I believe it is something simple. Have talked to others that say their 4.5 legend flys well.
dlish-- I had bought my son a p3-(2.5 meters)--that is a fun 2 line kite---the first time we flew it was in the Texas panhandle
one of those 25 mph days--what a blast--that kite also pulled us in the buggy at Galveston's East beach---you might ck out pansh's web site --4.0 ace (yellow/blue) $99.00 delivered---I might even go for that------anyway ----still learning ---still flying

Hey just to make sure did you try hooking up your lines both ways? IE: red to brakes green to power and green to brakes and red to power? I hooked up my ace wrong today and it wouldn't fly at all, if you haven't cut your lines try both ways.

Think, Front Fly on Fat , Back Brakes on Bottom for hooking up handles.

I think the red green that NPW is talking about refers more to the age old left / right hand question ( and is confused by pansh lines being coloured front / back ) On water the general rule is red for left / Port and green for right / starboard. I always mark my left side red at least. If you feel like arguing this one there will never be a right way. Just do them all the same.

When I had my 4.5 it flew great. It was an awesome kite for foward pull with little to no lift. I'd give my friends a go on the 4.5 Legend before grabbing the 5m Blaze.

GulfSandEater is now the proud owner of it, maybe he will be able to provide some more input on it.

thanks for the responce. Since I posted that I flew the p3 as a quad and it flys excellent. It does like higher wind days. It will not spin on its wing tip, like my ace, but it goes pretty good. They do make a p4 which is 3.5m. But the price they want for it you could buy any Pansh size you wanted and the p4 only comes as a dual line. I'm keeping the p3 around for those 40mph days:thumbup:
