Klepper Kiting

so i have an idea similiar to the kite canoe idea.

my roomate has an old school kayak called a Klepper, which is a really cool design, its made from canvas with a wood frame, so it is collapsable down to a duffel bag.

It is really stable due to inflatable pontoons, so we were thinking of seeing if we could kite with it. (kleppers already have sail attachments, people have even crossed the atlantic in them!)

its a double kayak, so one person to fly the kite and the other to steer? who knows...

there is a shallow and easily swimmable bay near my roomie's house, so maybe there would be good for a first attempt.

Hell I say give it a go, but I am kinda known on this forum for jumping the gun... Just be smart and try it with an LEI. If you don't have one at least tie some sort of bladder onto the bridles.

Open cell foil kites don't sink that quickly, just bring a mesh bag just in case, if you dump it it'll float for a good 5-10min, as soon as it gets wet start winding in the lines till you reach the kite, stuff it in the sack and you're set. Then grab the paddle(you did bring a paddle right) and paddle back to shore, lay the kite out on the beach for 10-15min, then fly static for a bit to finish drying and you're good to try again.

If you get the kite wet with gross pond water or salt water be sure to rinse it with fresh water when you get home.
