Mood: Go Fly A Kite!

Seeing that makes me realize I need to get busy as a parent. My 5 year old hasn't flown anything more than her little single line kite, leave alone kitesurf. :puzzled: I need to get busy!!!!

My wife would kill me if I tried that with our son before he is 12 (six months now). At least put a helmet on the kid.

My 12 year old has flown all my kites and every other kite I've flown. When I got the Pansh, I said "oh no way, this kite is too big for you". Thirty minutes later, he's loading it up and covering 30 feet across the sand in his own little jump style. Then I got the CF and said "oh this kite is much more powerful than the Pansh, no way you can fly it". Yep, ate those words too. When at Tybee with Angus, he flew Angus' 8.3 Reactor and when my back was turned, he was heading (on his feet) down the beach with a 4.9 blade. Same with the Ace. He was getting lofted but losing too much ground to keep flying. My rule is that he can fly whatever as long as he can stand his ground. If he gets dragged downwind, he has to be able to get back or its too much kite for him and the conditions. Now my 8 year old has a few hours in on the symphony and next chance he will have a go with the profoil. I don't get as much flying time in but have to grin when I'm going from kid to kid getting them unpacked and flying. Its cool to have your kids adopt your hobbies and have them interested in the same things you are. Many parents don't have that ever. And creighton, you will realize that dads are much more willing to let the kids have a longer leash on the fun stuff than their mother will. That will start to kick in right after they're walking.

Angus said the same thing when we were packing up the Blade that Wexler had been flying. I told him yesterday that I consider him my equal on the kites. He was intuitively shaking out bow ties with the kite in the air. He just doesn't have the pie-laden ballast that his old dad has!
