Stacking, would this work?

Tryin to get a little more power out of my 8 meter and I was wondering if this would work? The reason for the 3 below the 8 is less line to deal with. Would there be too much of a wind shadow on the 8 meter? There is about a 4 foot gap between them.

I'm pretty sure the 3m would just wrap around the power line it is attached to or not really inflate proper and flap around. I doubt that would work.
But try it and video tape it, if nothing it will be entertaining.

I'll give it a go later today. No digital video camera tho, don't have the $ after I bought my kites. Can't hurt to try.

Looks like an interesting concept. I kinda doubt it would work because you have 2 different size kites that do not perform the same. Years ago Kite Innovations experimented with stacking Quadrifoil 25's. It worked however there was an occasional problem with deflation. After deflating the kite would wrap around the lines.

The main problem you'll have is that the flying lines are in the middle of the kite, so the pull from the kite above it will pull the leading edge back interfering with the bottom kite. If you look at a kite like the Prism ones, they have a pigtail that goes through the foil and has attachment points on the top of the kite for the second kite to attach to without interfereing with the bottom kite. So unless you're willing to knock a small hole in the middle of the bottom kite i wouldn't bother trying.

The only other large power kite that I've heard stacks well is the PL stuff.

If you want more power out of the low wind and are on a budget, I'd take a good look at some of the 10+m size.

I am asking for the 12 meter ace for christmas, excet it doesn't come out untill some time 2008 :barf: But I am asking for a crossover bar the 12 meter and the 5 meter, thats about it for chistmas tho. Then I can stack my 12, 8, 5, and 3! LOL! and then go paragliding. Or better yet buy a paraglider and stack it as well! woooooooo!!!! 60 meter kite! LOL! (deathwish) I saw a series of NPW's stacked like this, I'll try to find it and ask how it was done.

Oh yeah and it didn't work, well it kinda did but there was like almost no wind and when it picked up It was too strong for that much kite so I didn't try. Maybe tomorrow there will be a happy medium.
