Some pics of my newest buggy.

I saw popeyethewelder posted links to his newest buggy which made me think to post a few of my own.

Sorry I have no catchy name for mine yet, but I’ll take suggestions!

You may need to copy and paste the whole link above.

I will move the photos to my own site once I have time.

Origin

The parts came from a lot of places.

Believe it or not most was second hand.

Wheels were old red and black motorcycle rims that I polished and painted blue.

Rear axle, side rails and seat were purchased second hand from eBay.

Front fork, foot pegs, swan neck and side rail covers I did purchased new with the help of John Ellis at Kitebuggyspeedshop.com

I only had to construct the new front and rear axle/bearing assembly to work with the new wheels.

That is one nice buggy. the wheels and tires are extra special. Are those metzler tires? You will have some serious grip if you ride on pavement. Looking at your buggy makes me want to start bulding my own. Excellent job !!

What is going on at the end of the rear axle? It looks like it lowers the axle relative to the center of the wheels. Is that the purpose?

Hey Darren,

Don't mean to hijack your post, but here's mine:

I plan on getting a complete disk wheels on it for racing and a down tube similar to yours.

Camber adjusters

Actually they are camber adjusters for the rear wheels.

I installed them this way to allow the buggy seat to sit lower to the ground.

Since the adjusters are a screw in design. I can flip the axle upright again to gain clearance if I run my small tires or in the future…. skiis.

Brian,

I'll go with the normal disk wheels from Libre.
But what seems to work too are scooter wheels for all terrain surface.
check these guys setup here:

I'm curious how the weight compares between sportbike wheel & tire vs. a bigfoot buggy wheel & tire.

3 bigfoot lights on standard rims with the full 21x12x8 2 ply slicks weighs in at 45lbs.

But BF's are signifigantly wider than the bike rims, I see them being for totally different uses, those bike rims would be killer at speed on a lakebed where the BF's tend to get a little unballanced at 40+mph.

First day on the Ice. Will link videos later.

Finally the lake at my work froze enough for me to trail my new Ice buggy.

The ice wasn’t smooth and the wind was anything but predictable but I was glad to be out there!

I will be making some adjustments tonight so that tomorrow I might have some better runs.

Also stopping was a bit of an adventure!
