NORCAL get together
I've noticed there are quite a few people on this forum all here in the norcal area. I would like to propose we set up some sort get together fly day.
I know its difficult to predict the weather, but we could pick a spot that blows often. Places that come to mind are ofcourse the beach maybe OB or I
know that fairfield and rio vista area get alot of wind. Just an idea. what do you all think?

Lots of wind coming our way tomorrow. I'll be in the city (SF) for the entire day,
so I'll definitely check OB.
I'm up for a little get together anytime. The sooner the better.

Lets pick the spot, then we can decide what date.
My first choice would be Ocean Beach in SF. Second weekend of January, depending on weather and wind forecast. That's just my suggestion.
Let me know what what everyone decides, I'm open.

elkiter, did you make it by OB when you were in the city. I'm curious on the oil situation. How about anyone else any news on the oil condition,
before we designate OB the spot ?

I was just planning for the day,but if the wind doesn't blow sat we can change it to sunday. maybe after we see the turn out we can plan a weekend.
Time = as soon as the wind blows :D
anyone goto Dillan beach ? Its been forever since I been there but from what I remember it was all sand dunes and alot of wind. Plus if its still the
same we can camp right were we would fly.

three states. See You all on OB. Will pass this to all my local riders from OB.

Unless it will be good forecast for those days I would go with better tides. We still would have 2 hours of riding witch for most is way to long(non
stop riding).Looks like I will be snowkiting that weekend in Tahoe. As far as beach goes all of them will have similar tides so maybe Mountain View
parking lot but this place have some concerts and lots of light poles. Forecast can be checked here http://flyfunston.org/newwebcam/ and than go to iWindsurf link on the bottom.

Well, according to the attached tide chart for January 12:
Low tide is around 7:06am at 2.6 which is not very low. Not to mention, way too early and I really doubt there will be any wind around that time fo
the day unless there's another storm. High tide is at 12:45pm which is probably about the time most of us are showing up. The real low tide is at
7:24pm at 0.1. Who's staying for that?
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r101/elkiter/Tide.jpg
So forget OB and meet at Shoreline Park IF you're willing to drive couple of hours. This is my local field so, no problem for me. Wind condition of
course has to be taken into account. We can still keep the date open.
What do you guys think?
e
PS - Don't be scared by the light poles, they will make you a better flyer
I have buggied here for over ten years, and not once had any problem with them.
Also, concert season does not kick-off till Memorial day.

Well I have not so good news. My father passed away on sun the 6th. So I am am
going to back out of this one. Sound like its was not going to be that hot of a spot anyway. And if I drive 3hrs to the beach I would like to have a
good day. Thanks zolty for the heads up on the tide thing as I know nothing about them. And to elkiter for the invite to the parking lot. That sounds
like fun But maybe another time.Dlish we are going to have to start another get together for around here because I know if we stay on it we can get
more than three of us off there butt. Again thanks to zolty and elkiter for he response and to dlish for starting the get together. Also no need to
feel sorry for me my father did alot of suffering and is in a better place. And now he will be with me every time I go flying. Because he was very
interested in it but was never well enough to get out.God bless him. And i will talk to you all later. Thrasher

I want to also thank zloty and elkiter. OB seems to be a right place at the right time location. Thanks elkiter for the invite, but I think I will
just go to the sod farm this weekend. Its closer and has no poles This
is not the end of this. I will be looking for other locations that are not so complicated. I thought it was bad enough to find a place big enough
with wind, now your throwing tides, people factor, earths tilt, barometric pressure, ground /water temp. and earth quake probability into the mix.
:puzzled: JK I figure there has to be somewhere in the fairfield/
rio vista area we can do this without so many factors. The wind always blows in that area its just a matter of finding a location.

Sthrasher,
I'm happy your Father is over his suffering but am very sad for you. As much as it can be a blessing the reality of not having the Old Boy around is
awfull. I was surprised how I was able to avoid thinking of Dad this Christmas. Even Mom was able to let Her hair down ! Time really does heal the
hurt. At least to a degree.
Popeye,
Your Old Boy is still in my Prayers!

Thrasher, I missed this when you posted on Monday. Our selfish side always misses those that depart us, even though we know it is sometimes the best
thing for them. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of your family. That will be a nice thought to know he is with you now when you
are flying.
