Ozone Manta I 1.5 Modification

I have original Ozone Mantas. Great kite. So, I've decided to get another one. This time, 08 Manta II and got one this Friday.

I was looking at new Manta bridle system and thought "maybe I can modify original Manta and make it Manta 1.5" So, I laid out both kites and compared their bridle system. One more pulley system in MantaII. So, I added just like one on original Manta like the attachment.

Yesterday, I had a chance to fly Manta 1.5 mod. Wind was really gusty and it wasn't a true test but I was surprised that I actually "flew."

Before I went out, my girlfriend said "just like any other your kite projects, I bet you come back and make it just like it was." This time, I might as well keep it as it it is (1.5 mod). It didn't feel like a crappy modification. Actually, I felt like it has more depower and lighter bar pressure than original. One minor thing was that it over-flew (when it's depowered) a couple of times. But again, it was gusty and my friend was flying new Manta II and experienced the same thing so it could be really wind effect.

I don't know how they changed 08 Frenzy bridle system from 07 but if they are same in Manta, then this mod could be applied to 07 Frenzy??? What do you guys think?

Here is a simple diagram. A, B, and C are bridle lines from top to bottom. D is side line, which is attached to wing tip and E is yellow break line.

Very cool Brian  Let us know how it goes after you fly it more.

Just curious - how does the depower of Manta II compare to your Flysurfers?

you'll need an A/B limiter (wac line) so it does not overfly and frontstall.

you could also put a 3cm pigtail extension on the A row to improve stability.

Felt more depower than original Manta but not sure compared to Flysurfer. Probably close but not better. I mean, Flysurfer depower is hard to beat.

One thing I noticed was less bar pressure than original Manta. I was flying my original Manta 12M all day at Skyline, UT and it was a lot of workout due to bar pressure (funny that I didn't notice last year - maybe I am getting older:spin:

Thanks for the tip. When it's fully powered up, all the bridles settings (length) are exactly same as factory setting so I would probably go with A/B limiter.
