Banner Pole Question

Probably a dumb question but need some answers.

In all my years of attending NABX this is my first year that I'm bring banner poles. We normally use Rebar to hold up banner poles. Knowing how hard the playa is...

What do most people use down there for banner pole stands?

If its rebar that you still use, I'm travelling by plane so I cant bring that with me.

Where can I pickup material in Las Vegas? Home Depot? Address would be helpful.

Can I borrow someones hammer when I'm down there?

Thank you in advance.

Yes, we use wedged rebar as pole mounts. There are many home Depots in the Las Vegas area.

Here is the address of the closest Home Depot to the event:
SW Las Vegas Store #3314
4195 S Fort Apache Rd
Las Vegas, NV 89147
(702)220-4903

I will try to bring some extras this year. Just catch me before you go running off into town.

You can also borrow my 5lb. Hand Sledgehammer if you promise to return it. Darn neighboors borrow tools even in BuggyTown.

Cheers!!!

Thank you both, I'll be sure to find you.

I'll be arriving March 31 Late into the evening, but not on the playa until Apr 1, in the morning.

Thanks again, I'll return your hammer when done. :saint:

There's actually a couple Home Depot's that are a little closer than the Ft. Apache one.

Probably the closest to the Airport would be Tropicana & Decatur. - west of the airport on Tropicana, about 1 mile west of the strip.
Another HD is on Eastern and Serene area. Take airport exit to I215 east, Take the 215 east about 3 miles, exit off of Eastern and turn right 1 block to Serene.

There's also a Lowes located at Eastern and Russell. - Take the Russell road exit from the airport, head east for about 1-2 miles to Eastern, turn right.

I also will have sledge hammer(s) if you need to borrow anything. I will probably have some extra mounts (rebar/steel poles) but not guaranteed, especially if someone gets em before you get there.

NABX is getting closer!!! Can taste the dust already.

Howdy Sailors,

I also have a nice sledge hammer and extra rebar.
Really, I can see no reason for you to buy more.
I'll be sure to carry more than I can use.
No problem.
I always carry more than I can use.
I also have slim pvc tubes to cushion the inside of the bigger poles.

Why buy when you can rent?

Oh... By the way... I drink Bushmills Irish Whiskey.
Stop by the Mayor's Office for some orientation.
We'll discuss the flag and banner issue in depth.

I'll need to find one of you at NABX. I only need 2 rebars + 2 cushions, and a hammer for 10mins.

I'll return the favor with B E E R!

Hmmmmm Home Depot carries fiberglass marker rods for $1.50 a pop that might do the job.

Nix on the fiberglas. Messy and will not work, for sure will break.

Corey has it right with the pvc sleeving, very important as it keeps the metal off the fiberglas of the banner pole.

Also note: this years event is a leave no trace, pack it in, pack it out.

In addition to rebar, we find that ground rods, steel or aluminum work very well, you get three per pole, hard to cut, but worth it.
