Most of us here may be twice your age or better - but don't you DARE insinuate that we're not immature!

i dont think that a kid forum would be a good idea, their would be no experience on it. i like this forum because you have guys and gals that have been doing this for years and really now what their talking about, and not some 16 year old punk. no offense.

yeah, don't be calling me mature either. Them's fightin words. Even worse than calling me Mister. I might even flop down on the floor and kick and scream some.

EDIT:

If you think about it, there probably aren't that many your age that even fly power kites, much less are passionate enough about it to regularly participate in a forum. How many on here are under 21? Maybe 3-5 regular participants? If there were enough of you to make it go, then this forum would be overrun with guys your age and us older immature guys would feel out of place. For instance, my 12 year old Wexler regularly flies every kite I have with authority and skill, but he has never asked how to get on the forum even though he regularly sees me reading it. Just stick around here so we can try to keep you out of the ER, and so this forum keeps the young guys perspective too.

I agree with the others. A juvenile forum would lack knowledge and experience (not all the time, but in many cases). The longer you live and fly the more experience and big picture details you can share. A 12 year old may be a master of flying but likely not possess the mental acuity of someone more senior to construct a comprehensive review or provide detailed feedback and advice.

Most younger fliers are likely being introduced to the sport by an older member of the family who already flies and can pass on knowledge on the field. I don't think there are too many parents out there who have never flown and don't fly regularly who would buy or allow their young one to buy a power kite. That would be grossly inappropriate parenting. 16 years old and up, that's a different story. But hey, lets face it, at 16 most teenagers won't listen to adults anyway so just go learn the hard way and come around here when you are ready to embrace the truth.

Now, I'll disagree a bit with the others, I'm mature but not old. I've grown older but I'll never grow up. Age is a date of birth. Old is a state of mind. At heart, I'll be young forever.

yeah, like it or not, I am mature now. I think I've still got it though since my kids tell there friends to watch me do something because it is cool to them or they see me as being really good at something in spite of being "old". It is gold when my 12 year old tells his otherwise bored and too cool friends "hey you've gotta see dad ________. He is awesome."

I'm 45 but not yet into this a year. I study this stuff diligently and ask a ton of questions. Yet there is nothing like tugging on a set of handles and watching a kite go up in front of you.

Lets get out and fly!

Flexiforum caters for kiters from thirteen to folks in their 70s , I would guess the average age being 35-40

I hope I wasn't taken as down on Flexiforum. It is a top notch site. I'm aware that folks af all ages use it.
I just found that the general vibe is younger and a lot of the members are from G.B. Both of these are good things. I was just suggesting Nick may find a few more folks of his own age there. Not that we mind giving him O.G. advice here !

Yeah I do see where you are coming from with that, I know that alot of kitesurfers are younger so I was hoping some would show but I guess they kinda hit the flexi forum. Maybe I'll give that a go.

Thanks,

I think NPW must have a girlfriend. He hasn't been on here for 3-4 days now. It was bound to happen sooner or later. In the movie Bambi they called it getting twitterbated. Can you hear him now, "kites? What kites?" Maybe he will manage to convince her how much fun a kite buggy date can be. Or maybe there will be a deal soon on a "slightly used" 8m Ace and or a big Bomba. Let's hope it doesn't go that far.

Well I kinda have a GF its breaking off, but at 2 months the "shiny newness" wears off, it was fun while it lasted I guess, she took up too much of my kite fund. :P I just kinda got wrapped up in HG/PG money making schemes and working on my chopper again. And I did meet a girl who really wants to get into kiting and plan on helping her with the kite in, as Barnes puts it, "classic minigolf style" *fingers crossed* IDK though I love kiting but once or twice the thought of "if I sold them I would have $___ for paragliding" :o

Hi I am probably the most immature being on the forum and a kids forum is not really a very good idea. I think the same way Strictlycarved said. I would much rather ask you guys questions than people my own age. I have been flying kites for about 5 years and there are not many kids that have. So I would rather ask yuo guys because you have more experience

Kiting is one of those things that is kinda odd but way cool, like how chicks dig surfing, well chicks REALLY dig kitesurfing. Best thing to do when you get tired is stand on the beach and keep the kite at the zenith, board in hand, shirt off and look like your doing something....let the chicks stare. :saint:
