hehe, I get to respond before the lama...

Hotwheels style car (usually) with shot glass glued on top. Fill with fuel (Bushmills is best, but that is debateable). Drink shot, place car on gravity track faster than your opponent. Hope your car gets to the bottom first. Win even if you lose! Repeat.

Ok, what did I forget?

The only reason Bushmills is best is that you won't have to worry about sharing that bottle of rotgut with anyone else. :frog:

Now, Now...
Let's not take it into the personal realm.
You may consume whatever you like - As may I.
All things being equal - Fuel choice just might be the deciding factor.

Fact: All Class winners last year raced on premium or super-premium fuels.
(Thanks largely to Ken Eakland for the bottle of 12 yr old Jamison Irish Whiskey he brought for the Lama - Not knowing the Lama is particular to Bushmills Irish Whiskey)
There is a strong Agave Tequila contingent to ensure a variety of racing strategies.

As Hyphen and Scooter can attest, pro drivers learn to race with a half-tank of fuel per run.
8 or 9 match races in an hour can teach anyone this lesson.

It is a Wizard of Oz illusion.
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

It isn't about Shot-Car Racing at all.

Instead of wandering off in the evening, to the rooms or the casino, we gather in the Big Tent in the middle of Buggytown and get to know each other.
Drinking is simply useful as a social lubricant.
Gets the conversations and laughter going.
Shot-Cars and Shot-Car Racing are sufficiently silly.

"As a matter of fact... I AM a rocket-surgeon"

What about those that don't drink or drink very little? As I get older I find that alcohol has a greater adverse affect on me. I wonder how many others feel left out, or prefer not to participate, when the bottle comes out or they have their kids/wife/etc with them.

Not trying to put a damper on your conversation here, just wondering how many activities will NOT be alcohol fueled?

Who says that your fuel has to be alcohol. What is wrong with sports drink, water or soda.

Bring your own fuel! As stated above. I think a car on alcohol goes faster than one on kool-aid but whatever floats your boat. I mean runs your car Right? Sounds like a blast to me! Good times and good company. I don't drink that much either but I will just like buggying, Get a few good runs in! And I belive it is more of a social gathering rather than an activity. Is there a prize for whoever crashes theirself or there car first? Count me in. Also I hear it is tradition to bring an extra car to share for bringing wind?

hey gang
i don`t drink too. i fueled my car with water.
i had a great time watching others trying to keep thier act together. LOL believe me a good time was had by all.
i saw a shot glass glued to the very first car i owned. a 1961 chevy. when the owner(sorry i forget who it was) saw me looking at it and i told him that was my first car he gave it to me. i still have it displaced on top of my work bench.

Oh like I wouldn't be teased, relentlessly, for drinking something none alcohol! ;) and the peer pressure to drink from those that are, shall we say less inhibited! :frog:

Not to mention, Drunks are much less annoying to someone who is drinking than someone who isn't!!! :piggy:

Just man up! I haven't drank in over 8 years since my buddy got in a accident right after he dropped me off. I just tell people I don't drink and thats usually the end of it. But if they persist I tell them the story then they feel like dirt.
Count me in.... my car will be powered by kool-aid

Last Year at the shot car racing, there was kids hanging around. It isn't about a bunch of drunks being drunk. it is a big social event. Would you rather have your kids learn what alcohol does to you in the middle of nowhere with people you know or at a party they snuck out to to find out themselves?

I am 18 going on 19 and I have participated with my dad in the shot car racing. It was wonderful! It was great to hang out with my dad in that kind of situation and be myself. Not alot of teenagers can say they have been drunk with there dad and our friends after we spent the day together flying kites. It is really wonderful.

My dad and I also use to do RC airplanes! Wow, small world. As for the rollercoaster... I am deadly afraid..... but thanks for the offer! The casino at buffilo bills has an arcade. Maybe me and your daughter can hit it up! Does she know how to fly kites? I will take her out on a tandem if she is up to it. I can't wait to meet you and your daughter! Sound like we have alot in common.
My dad and I also go out to stores to make shot cars. My Dad and I have 7 of them. Let your daughter know she will not be the only "young" girl there. There will be Megan (16) Kristian (14) Bridget (who i also11) and myself. I will be turning 19 the day before NABX.

I have so much fun at buffalo bills with the plume ride bridge.ya know the water gun that you can shoot the people riding with ? I get a roll of qaurters and pull up a chair and blast them on a friday or saturday night .It's a deal .she afraid too but maybe she'll muster the courage to ride but you'll be in charge.I'll give you both rolls of qaurters, just so you know I owe ya one .I know 11 will cramp your style but shes a cool 11, not a uncontrolable rugrat like most kids that cant sit still or have maners.Have me hook up with ya father cause we have alot to talk about .I've won awards for my airbrushing ,building and flying. Now your making me want to bring something to fly when winds are down.:yes:thanks for the offer "Girl" what a sweetheart !she loves that arcade !I will be trying to grab a 4line foil kite she can handle .we'll see what's available at the Playa and if you like to show her what you've learned so far with kite traction.I "Really" owe ya big time :smug:If I show her this thread she she'll get excited and start counting the days like she did my last ski trip we had in PA.I'm sure I've Met your father and sounds great to me ,we also have to have a dinner with ya father at the buffet on me .Ya "MADE MY DAY" and hers too.Watch for the next post from her:lol:if you take her tandum I'll let you take us on a train ride with blokarts like the pic, just a few more karts added hopefully.maybe we can get Sue and Claxton to do another buggy train too.

Sounds like fun! I am so in! I can't wait! You said she was out there last year? I am suprised I didn't run into her. She sounds cool. I have no problem hanging out with a 11 year old. it doesn't matter how old you are, its how you present yourself. We might become best friends!
You owe me nothing! I love meeting people! We are going to have a blast!
