Dry lake

Will this be my first and last time at Nabx? Do you think we will be able to go there again next year (09) also? I have been reading old posts of airports, Un exploded shells, Military signs. I really hate being negative But will there be anything left? I am sad.:(:barf::sniff: I am going to be thankful to at least be able to meet all of you for the first time this year! After that they can have the dam thing! we will overcome or adapt. And we will find another place to fly on!

There is talk of the military taking over Superior.
The airport is going to be north of Ivanpah they will be taking over Jean.
The only lake bed with unexpoded shells that I know about is the one in Wilcox Arizoina.
The concerns about Ivanpah is the solar panels going in on the west side of I-15.

There is still Red Lake in northern AZ.... Have not made the trip myself, but I hear it's pretty! Lots of beaches and fields left also, no need to fret! Our brothers and sisters in the UK and other places have been going through ongoing access battles for years and the sport is still alive and well, as it will be here....

Fly on!!

Good info Susan.

Likely, once the desert turtles are fully accounted for and taken care of. Fortunately Superior #2 and Superior #3 lakebeds are not included in the military expansion plans.

Therefore as long as your kite lines don't exceed 100ft on Ivanpah, the FAA should be cool with it.

And Wilcox is a bit too soft to buggy on anyway... at least it was when we (me and the npw goddess) visited it. Might make a good 4th of July destination though! ;-)
