Laid to rest!

Well I fudged up my Blaze 3.0 High wind kite it was not. Today I went out in 28-35 mph gusts and snapped a bridle line! Can anyone fix this? Not to mention getting spanked by my Bullet. I pulled something in my leg I got obe'd like superman turning around doing around 15-20mph Got yanked out and flew about 25ftX5-6ft high and got seriously spanked. Thank God my old lady made me wear my helmet best money I ever spent. It saved my butt today! I got slammed pretty violently. I was flying way over- powered! My bad! Almost messed up my Nabx adventure:no: I am going to the doctor tomorrow to look at my leg. Well no pain no gain right? everyone has to learn sometime. It took a few to get up from that one!:borg:

Well glad to hear your okay! I hate near death experiences with a fiery passion! I had a bridle on my Ace snap on me (still need to contact PANSH about that, can't hurt to try!) First off I would contact PANSH about it and with any luck they will send you a new one. From what I have heard PANSH is a very helpful company. I just tied small overhand knots in each broken end and square knoted them together. Just has a small crease when it flies, no major differences.

The knot you should use is a zeplin bend it is a 100% knot and takes up very little string i will se if i can find a link for the knot. Its one of the knots that every kiter should know very useful in cases like this

The wind has been howling today in Davis with high gusts. I drove south toward where I think the Sod farm is that you guys had described. I guess you had already finished for the day unfortunately. I just moved to Davis from Santa Monica and am looking to start buggying since the surf is bit of a distance.

Cheers,
Adrian

Dude!

35 mph with a fixed bridle?! :wow: I would be leery of my profoil in those winds. No way would I take the beamer (more docile kite) out in those winds. I'm gonna go with the sacrificed kite to appease the gods angle. I think there was a karma thing when you mentioned that about no winds for me for two weeks when the big Blade arrives. Well, I hope the kite can be healed up ok and that the gods are appeased. Maybe no one else has to break a bridle or suffer too much or not enough wind for awhile. Also, glad you got your quiver all in order. I've got a kite I need to give a bath that a friend of Wexler sent for a swim in the surf. Maybe I'll try that 3000 psi steam generator pressure washer my neighbor has.............:smug: Just kidding. No one would EVER do such a thing would they?:P

Hey S38,

Sorry to hear about your accident...Hope you're ok...be careful, now that NABX is so close, you don't want to do anything that will cause you to miss it!

BB took the words right out of my mouth. I was at El Mirage yesterday (25-37mph) and wouldn't even consider flying my Bullet (4.5 also). Obviously the lake bed offers little resistance, but I was fully powered on my 1.8 beamer (Buggy and Board).

See you at NABX!

No need to sacrifice a kite. Sthrasher sacrificed his body so I will fix the kite. I'm sure Pansh will warranty the bridle, but I know Dlish will. New bridle coming soon.

Dlish, thats the way to step up. Can you get stuff like bridles from Pansh or are you in the repair business now? I was looking at your mood and realized how lucky I've been in the last 3 weeks or so. I remember back in July - Sept, how I couldn't buy a breeze over 2 mph. I've been flying for hours at multiple times each week lately. I have my jumping working pretty well now, a Blade on the way, pulling nice jumps with the Crossfire. Life is good. I wish we could get you west coast guys some nice usable winds.

Mood: Go Fly A Kite!

[*] posted on 3-3-2008 at 11:04 AM

BeamerBob - I can get them from Pansh. They are already sending me a couple others, because I didn't like the way they looked. Pansh has recently upgraded their bridles on some models I have noticed. I had a couple kites here that had the old bridles and they said they would send some new bridles to fix the lines that looked weak and sloppy in my opinion. Enjoy your wind ... it truley is a gift. I was at the beach this weekend , but the wind was horrible where I was I couldn't fly at all.
Sthrasher is at the doctor now and getting xrays. Lets hope he is all right and good to go for NABX

Oh! I used all of it this weekend

Sat. avg 30mph with some in the 40s w/ 50 mph gust 5m. haka....

Sunday was mid 20s wind and 9m haka

built bomb proof

Back about 7years ago I blew up 2 flexi sky-tigers hi-1.5's in the sky at first I thought I just snapped a line but ended up pulling out the bridle tab from within the wing and once one went loaded up all the others BOOM! it happen so fast it was a thing of beauty:( I thought maybe my friends 1.5 had not been rinse out from flying in salty conditions and the salt acted as tinny bits of crushed up glass and worked the seam to were it blew out ... I offered to replace his wing and then burrowed it once again and dang! blew that one up too! he said he never even used it:o

DO-DO happens

I hear my wind chimes :tumble::smilegrin:

Good luck thrasher and good healing. Is Pkf going to raise the rim a notch after so many of us become "know it alls". I just noticed the other day that I'm a kite traction freak. If the shoe fits huh? Prolly another 8-12 months and there will be 10-15 know it alls. Freak I'll agree with but I'm not sure I could ever admit I was close to really knowing it all. I hope none of us ever act like we think we do. So far so good. This forum is an awesome extension of the sport.
