Ok I was just trying to get a point across. I didn't have a kite to adjust to the gusts so I flew anyway. ( I should have went home). My 3m broke that was the one I was using and the smallest I had with me.

Thanks,
I have to credit Wexler with taking that one. On the other hand, he took over 200 pictures in the hour or so we flew that day. My dad would say "even a blind hog can find an acorn every now and then". There are lots of good ones though.

On the "picture perfect" comment, that kite just gives me a visceral response to see it in a picture, or especially out in the wind. I remember having the same feeling when I first saw that banner over at racekites. I feel lucky to have one on the way. It's the same feeling of awe that I have when I see a fine sports car. No matter where I flew tridudes' blade, I drew onlookers. I had a group just sit down on a bench and watch me for half an hour or more at the beach one day. I wondered if it just strikes me that way or if the feeling is universal.

Yeah, Bob...congratulations on that beautiful kite. When I first saw your pic, I thought how pretty that kite looked. It's almost the exact shape of my paraglider which made me like it right away.....and then the color scheme.....well, your gonna love just looking up at it. I might just have to have one of those someday....gotta grow up first....one step at a time.

I now understand how someone could justify paying that much for a kite. I could be quoted as saying a newbie couldn't appreciate flying a fine kite like that but anyone qualified to fly the same size kite, would appreciate the flying qualities of a fine well engineered kite. I suspect the Crossfire II is gonna be the same way. It was a fine prototype I flew last September, and they've been tweaking the bridle to get it "just right" since then. I can't wait to try one out to see what they've done with it. I imagine it is going to be very Blade like at $556 ready to fly instead of the blade priced at $775 after lines, and handles are added. It will be interesting to see how great a kite can be at that price point.

Flexifoils dont cost anything. Try buying an Ozone that's compreable in size.
My next kites gonna be a 6.5m blade. I have 4m bladeIV and love it.

I'd like to hear (or do) a comparison between all the Blade IVs . Specifically the differences in turning speed achieved with the cross bridles on the 6.5 and 8.5 relative to the two smaller kites.

Me too! If I do get one it will be one of those sizes. From what I hear I think the 6.5 turns better and faster than the 8.5 But I could be wrong.

I think it would have to. My question is whether the 4.9 turns very much better than the 6.5 with the cross bridles or only slightly better.

What do you think? I flew the 4.9 that sucker was fast. If the 6.5 turn like that That will be the size I get. although the 8.5 would have more float.

The 6.5 has plenty of float for me. I wouldn't trade more float for a smaller usable wind range. That's just me. I think to get the 8.5, you have to be able to say "the 6.5 is nice if it just had more power." :wow: I know there are guys out there that milk an 8.5 for all its worth but I'm still humbled by the 6.5 in funky wind.

I only flew the 4.9 for 5 minutes or so in very light wind. Not enough time to figure out how it flies. It had taken advantage of Wexler's low mass, and slowly drug him down the beach. I went to retrieve him when it was time to pack up.

I didn't fly the 4.9 against your 6.5 when I had it, but the tight turning of the 6.5 startled me. Forget about turning on a tip, the thing practically pivoted on the bridle point! I'll bring the 4.9 down to Anastasia or take it with you when you pick up the the bug and Reactors

That might be a great opportunity to compare the two. Both static and in the buggy if I get my nerve up enough. Thanks again Angus. Rasta might grow on me seeing it while flying it. I'm sure I've talked more about the 6.5's turning than I have its lift. Lift is a given with the blade but the turning almost defies belief.
