new subforum or thread suggestion
I think after Dustin's crash we should have a crash forum for when you crash or get hurt. What does everyone think ???
It would help to learn from other peoples mistakes.

Not a bad idea...it would help the new kiters (like me :P) recognize how dangerous these kites can be without having to explain to each one what could
happen if you try to jump too soon.

Hmm, I'm not sure if a collection of horror stories would offer a fair image of traction kiting. For balance, we'd need to offer a section for
positive stories too.
And then I imagine reading all these stories about crashing while kitesurfing or a great experience buggying and I think... we already have sections
for surfing and buggying. Perhaps it's best that all these stories go in the sections already setup for each kite sport.
I'm not against exposing some of the unfortunate realities of kite traction. But I think a category solely for accidents and mishaps would paint an
unbalanced view of our sport and may give some the wrong idea.
IMO I'd rather hear about the good and the bad all mixed in together.
Nevertheless, we'll consider this idea further and I thank you for your feedback. More comments are welcome.

Dam your good! I was all for it at first too. I thought it was a good idea. But then again all in one section may scare off new commers. It is better
left in between like you said.Way to think wex! Keep em comming.

I mentioned in another thread that there could be bad things happen with all the negative stuff socked away in one convenient place. Lets keep
putting the stuff out there but in the forum it most fits in. Ignorance isn't blissful at all.

Ignorance is a little steep. Accidents do happen. Sorry, I may have taken that a little personal. But I do see where you are comming from. I agree.

I mean nothing personal directed towards anyone at all. I mean we all benefit from knowing what someone did wrong to cause themselves or someone else
to get hurt. We need to learn from our mistakes and those of others when we can. Not knowing means others might make the same mistake(s)
unnecessarily. As always, fly safe, and have fun.

I thought it was a good idea. But pkf does have a point. It could give someone the wrong idea.

Devil's advocate here !
Folks who are serious about kiting already think they are from a bit of the extreme. If the thought of injury scares them off we saved them a lot of
money and time waisted with kites and doctors. If someone is SO SENSITIVE that a few injury stories will scare them off they aren't the people I want
to teach. A certain amount of courage is required. Injuries are a part of the price of initiation. The better people understand that the better off
they will be.
Ignorance is indeed bliss, but not a good thing in kiting.
Too many people see our replies warning them of the dangers and think we are over stating the obvious. Particularly around starting with too big a
kite. If we stop just one person from going out against our better advice we have done the WHOLE kiting community a big service.
To learn from others mistakes is possibly THE BEST information we can pass on ?
Poeple EAT UP blood and guts stories. It's our nature ! :D
I could argue the other side of this almost as effectively but I think it's clear how I feel

Just to be clear... the only point I made was that we probably don't need a whole category specifically for accidents. I think they fit well in each
of the sport categories we already have setup. That way when someone is reading through the buggy forum, for example, they will see all information
regarding buggying in one place - including accident reports.
So, feel free to share your horror stories. ;-)

Of course. Please put it in the associated sport forum (ie. buggy crashes in buggy forum, etc.).
