Ya Glen

You have a big Bulls Eye on your back. I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to let Susan put your buggy in my trailer. You may have to run behind your NASA wing.
Just kidding. We have installed radio activated explosive charges into all your tires. If you get too close to catching me I will really blow your tires off.

All I am trying to do is stay alive for the next 3 weeks. I am sure that this 3 weeks will seem like a year. Hell yes I am ready to go. I have been ready since that dam Dlish89 guy talked me into it.:P And as far as packing goes This is my first year so I had to get all kinds of stuff. You know new helmet, knee elbo pads, a couple kites, goggles, Buggy tires. Trying to save money as we speak. As it stands right now I may need some animal traps so I can eat. Do those turtles I here about taste like chicken? My room reservations? I may be sleeping in a tent on the playa. I would not mind but I dont know if my woman will go for the old (I forgot to reserve the room ordeal.) I'm so broke right now I can't even afford to pay attention. So in short: (yea I'm ready)

Bummer David. I know what you're saying though. Last week was the slowest we've had in the 21 years I've been at this shop. Gas prices are killing us! Time to go sell some more stuff. ;)

I'm so broke I'm going to the playa 2 days before the event to kgb. (probably gene or roach). I can't afford the entrance fee. Perhaps i can scrounge for the first day! Anyone going to be in the primm area a few days before?

Hey Matt,
There is no entrance fee.
None of the lake beds.
Ivanpah requires a personal-use permit for vehicle access other than during the nabx time.
Even that permit is free.

We pay when we gather in a large group so we can afford a few niceties (port-o-sans, tent, insurance, etc).
It is not pay-to-play.

(A little secret - You won't be the only one skirting the registration fee)

Jean Dry Lake and Roach (east side) are ride-able but a bit rougher than Ivanpah.

Don't let your wallet determine the quality of your life.

My bags are packed, I'm ready to go ...

Hey my subject is a line from an old 1960's song I believe. I can't believe it's my 8th SBBB/NABX. I feel the need .. the need for speed.

I've got a bigger buggy this year, instead of just the standard size PL XR I have an XR+ with a 120cm wide axle and longer side rail set on it. I even sewed up a nice little pack back with straps to mount on the back of it. Pictures of the buggy are on my blog at this post.

Crash,
Happy to help you out.
What length/strength line set do you want?

I'll be on the road to Elmer's on the 27th.

Map to the store location is found on my home page at www.windpowersports.com
Address is to a 28 bldg complex - I'm 1/4 mile away at the other corner of the property.
The shop will be closed from 27 March to 6 April.

Orders placed on-line can be delivered to the playa.
I will have no product for sale on the playa at nabx.

I have Buggy Naked pins.

Hey Sailors,
First to Crash... If you're checking into Buff Bills on the 27th, we'll be about 200 miles away.
The Pre-Event that many also attend starts at El Mirage Dry Lake, down in Cal by Victorville.
There will be folks out at Buggytown on Ivanpah.
Not everyone does everything.

Now to Thrasher...
Wanting a Buggy Naked pin is oh-so-easy.
EARNING the pin is another matter.

One must buggy naked.
One must be photographed whilst buggying naked.
One must present the photo to me to attain the privilege of purchasing a Buggy Naked pin.
The sterling silver pin, which can never be sold or traded, is $35

If one asks if this or that qualifies, by the question, it does not.
Photos are posted on the Buggy Naked web page at www.buggythang.org

And that's all I have to say about that!

I'll let the cat out of the bag....when buggying for the pin, BEWARE of the devil that crashes his/her kite into yours as you try to get your photo taken. Only then, will you stand up, and present thyself for all standing around in attention to see. As you re-rig your kite, there will be photos of every part not required to earn the pin.

I would LOVE to get into the world book of records for something crazy like this. We would have to get decent #s though. The Dutch would turn around and take it away before we knew it. At least we would remain better at something than the Brit's :P

Jellis,
So you may have been.
I see no photo of you at the naked buggy photo site.
www.buggythang.org

Check and let me know if I missed you.
Are you sure you sent me the photo?

For record seekers, beware.
Back in the day - When WE were the young turks...
Full of bullet-proof and bounce...
January 1994, I think it was...
More than 20 nekkid buggy riders swarmed across Ivanpah.

Besides, it's not about being clothed or naked, it's because it doesn't matter.
It's about making choices for ourselves.
Do what feels good to you.
If we are consumed with what others think...
Why are playing in such an obscure sport as this?
Time to get used to the fact that even us "odd ducks" have a flock to come home to.

Buggy Naked is not a dare.
It certainly isn't about a silly pin.
It's about what all this represents.
That varies with each individual.
buggymangp has certainly found something meaningful.
Maybe, if we stop trying so hard to MAKE the magic happen...
We can learn to LET the magic happen.

Let's buggy the magic wind.
