DIY god!

IDK if this is a member here (if it is kudos) but he has some great ideas for all around kiting but mostly buggy stuff. I love the use of a trashcan!

I have been playing with the exact set-up as his for a strop Quick release. I'm pleased with it so far but I don't know that I completely trust it yet. It is the exact same principle as many of my factory Q.R. setups . I'm just using cotter pins and some pneumatic air tubing.

Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.
Flysurfer : 19m Speed 2 SA, 7m Pulse
Peter Lynn :18m Phantom, 15m Synergy, 10m Synergy, 1200 Farc, 460 Sarc, 130 Tarc, 5m Peel, 4.2m , 6.4, 8.5 C-Quads, 3.5 LS2 single skin.

Rides: Flexi / P.L. Frankin'Buggy , Shaped + straight skiis, sand skis, Coyote blades. Core 95 ATB. RKB R2 ATB .

You're killing me NPW! You can't just hook yourself to a 8 or 17m kite and not have a way out! I got my quick release on ebay for $17. I still haven't hooked into it, but I will at the beach next week. I've attached everything to the harness and tested that it releases under load, so its ready to hook on. I've had gusty conditions since I got it set up and don't want to let the wind have its way with me.

Good for you ! Does this mean you have a harness now as well ?
I guess it's partly because I started flying with depower LEI's But I almost never fly without my harness. It's too tiring !

I am easing into this at first. I have a climbing harness that I am adapting to try out the concept. I will get hooked into everything at the beach next week with a suitable kite and suitable winds. So far, I've enjoyed the workout I get from just holding onto the kite, but seeing a buggy and or board in my future, I want to gain some experience with the harness idea. Also, I remember the buggy completely draining me in short order due to me pushing on the footrests to lock me into the seat and holding the handles too tight which just totally wore me out in about a half hour. I need to learn to relax a little so I can put some miles in. I know having access to a buggy for several days like this at a desolate beach is going to be life changing for me. I think the harness will let me enjoy it more than without.

I use a kiteboard spreader bar. The fact I can just flop in and flop out is my choice. Flying unhooked when I'm in the least bit of doubt and hooking in to stay rested up. I'm not as fond of that fully captive set-up that you are likely to have on your climbing harness ? Going straight to that style would make me nervous as well ! You can pick up a used harness for the price of a good pulley and wichard release :!:
