You know you are addicted when ...
You start to book ALL your vacations around kiting and kiting events. EVEN Christmas !
You quit your job ( Ripsession ) because they won't give you time off for important kiting get togethers !
You are totally broke and broken ( Sthrasher ) and it won't stop you from going to NABX.
You fly a windsock ( me ) from the top of your highrise building.
You have been forced to have the , "I've become wind dependent " discussion with Family and Friends.
Todays true story:
A new fellow attends todays meeting. Within 5 minutes he is offered lessons. The others enter, The new guy says we were just talking about kite
boarding. Have you ever heard of it ?
EVERYONE else in the meeting Roars with laughter and say, So you've met Ken
Etc. Etc. :singing:
Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.

looked at me and said awww man I have to get my wife form work where is she gonna ride? You know the kites in the back of the truck never did cross his mind. You didn't make her ride in back did ya?

I just keep going to the beach/field/parking lot/etc and fly when I can. When i can't fly, I find myself sewing kites. If nothing else... I have a

Hey Sailors,
You know you're a desert buggy addict when you make a sudden stop at a red light and the car in front of you is immediately covered in playa dust. -
Lack-o-Slack Dooley
You know you're addicted when you sit on your buggy for hours, waiting for the wind to come up, and you have hundreds of dollars of light-wind
stunters in your car.
You know you're addicted when you have a "Closed For Wind" sign on your front door.
You know you're addicted when your girlfriend/wife/SO says it's either/or and you realize how much you're going to miss that girl.

I'm addicted to wind when:
After working a Graveyard Shift from 24:00 to 8:00am. your kite buddies call you first thing in the morning and ask where we going to fly today. kite
from 9am to 4pm, go home sleep 4hrs back to work. repeat the process for the next day.

Here are the 20 questions of being an alcoholic, slightly modified...
Do you lose time from work due to kiting?
Is kiting making your home life unhappy?
Do you kite because you are shy with other people?
Is kiting affecting your reputation?
Have you ever felt remorse after kiting?
Have you got into financial difficulties as a result of kiting?
Do you turn to lower companions and an inferior environment when kiting?
Does your kiting make you careless of your family's welfare?
Has your ambition decreased since kiting?
Do you crave a kite at a definite time daily?
Do you want a kite the next morning?
Does kiting cause you to have difficulty sleeping?
Has your efficiency decreased since kiting?
Is kiting jeopardising your job or business?
Do you kite to escape from worries or trouble?
Do you kite alone?
Have you ever had a complete loss of reason (originally read memory) as a result of kiting?
Has your physician ever treated you for kiting?
Do you kite to build up your self-confidence?
Have you ever been to a hospital on account of kiting?
If you answered yes to two or more questions, you are an addict. You should seek help, or a wide open area with loads of clean wind. I'll hope to see
you there!

Ah, two because the 10M is mine and the 8M is my wife's. Aside from that we have most of the Rage line and a few Montana's. Here in Yellowknife the
wind is lighter then where we used to live on the coast, so we need bigger kites to try snowkiting on snowboards.

...so is there a three step program to this addiction?
Let's see:
1. I always have my eBay firefox plug in running to see all the watches going on throughout the day.
2. I keep a spreadsheet denoting what sold and when. I track sales prices of items I am looking for to see average sales prices. Sorry, I sit on a
computer all day, every day for work.
3. I have been walking on plywood floors in my house for the last year because I would rather buy kites than carpet.
4. I justify most of my new kite purchases as things the family can use and share. Kids are growing up fast, lets make it fun.
5. I check the PKF forum at least 3 times a day.
...okay, I have a problem. On the plus side he wife has pretty much approved the acquisition of a 5m depower for the younger kids to use (and nice
high wind kite for dad). I hope my wife does not see this thread...
