Got it today. Not bad. It's in Norwegian and English but the english is full of pauses making me think they just over dubbed it and the norwegian phrases are longer than the same english. A dumb observation - not a negative at all.

The DVD spends a great deal of time on equipment, kite, safeties, gear, packing, unpacking etc...too much in my opinion for the money I paid for it but that's only because of all I've learned from this forum. If I were completely starting out this would have been a GREAT boost in my education. One thing I did like is how they focused on both foils and LEIs equally while still being focused on snowkiting. They also come right out and say that it's easier on skis so the demos are shown on a board.

So, once the preamble is through and they get into the riding it's clear, concise and to the point. They have good double angle shots of the kite and the kite and rider plus overlay the Ozone 3d wind window diagram at many points - nice touch to visualize things. They cover starting, controlling speed, edging, upwind, downwind and turns. Then they talk a bit about free riding and expedition kiting and then get into your first jumps making it seem oh so easy. And I think it might be really, other than the getting over fear part and not over controlling the kite thing. (I'll be sure to give it a go once I get settled in and cruising well on the ATB this summer - with a full complement of pads of course ; )

So. Buy it or not?

Buy it. You may not need it but if you're like me you'll be sucking a bunch of other people into the sport and this is a great overview of both the gear and the beginner steps. Well produced, great detail, solid info. I don't feel it was a waste of money even though I didn't learn anything I hadn't learned here until about 3/4 through. I'll definitely buy Volume 2.

My 2 cents.

Stop me if it's illegal but I'm willing to pass the volume in PKF "Pass the...." fashion. Do let me know if it's likely not legal though - we don't need to get into trouble here and most certainly can support the kiting community by just buying it outright.

There's only a few of you here so let's do it. PM me or post your general location and we'll go as clockwise as we can. Obviously I won't need it until the snow flies here again so we'll keep it going until everyone's seen it OR I'm advised that "we shouldn't be doing this". If you see it please consider buying it or at the very least the subsequent volumes to support them - they've done good work here.

i still have snow, we just got like a foot last sunday. totally weird for the season.

Take your time with it - still no word on the next destination. Funny that you get it the same day I have to walk a dog through a foot and a half of snow that wasn't here four days ago ; )

Enjoy - it starts slow but gets useful at the end.

I didn't get a chance to finish it yet, but so far I think it is a fantastic DVD for someone new to the sport.

Arrived yesterday. Watched about half of it last night, this is a cool video! It's amazing what they "recommend" though, all of the equipment they recommend adds up to over $5k!! LOL! It's really good stuff though, they explain the different kites, and how they work. Very good information. I'll let you know as soon as I'm done watching it and I'll ship it to wherever is next.
