Sky Country - Reflex 3m

This weekend a bunch of us at Garry Point got try out Solaris's new 3m Reflex. It is an awesome little kite, really fast across the window and surprising pull when it is being milked. We were not flying it in optimum conditions: DirtSlide was boarding using my 10m Reflex and I was buggying using Tonya's 3m.
All Reflex have 34 cells and 5.1:1 aspect ratio regardless of size. The kite is made from Gelvenor fabric. There are ample air inlets to keep the kite inflated; luffing did not seem to be a problem except when the wind was very light and shifty. The inlets are covered with a very tough, very fine mesh to keep snow and all but the finest debris out.
Sky Country does not have a set colour scheme for their kite and Tonya's has a white face, with Reflex's lightening bolt in yellow with deep red below and hot neon electric pink above on the back side.
I was little shocked at first about how it looked but any bad thoughts left as soon as I flew it in the buggy. It was like flying a Prism Micro with pull: really fast and precise. It did not have much power if parked in one location, but starting sin waving the kite and even at the very edge of the window you can get power.
As I said above, we were not flying the kite in the best of conditions, but next week those of you at NABX should to find Tonya for a little fly. I am sure that you will not regret checking out this little beauty

I have had my hands on the full line of Skycountry Reflex kites now. 3, 5, 7, and 10m. Not enough time on the 3m to judge performance but you can just tell by it's shape it will be fast and friendly.
I have really only had a chance to get moving on the 10m for any time. It out performs my 9m Blade II in low wind by a good bit. I'm not sure why, maybe the material or the fact it is new but the 10 holds it's shape nicely with very little internal pressure. The material on my 9 is obviously much less stiff and it will deflate much quicker. This weekend I sent the kite for what I thought was a little transition jump. I only went up as high as I expected but floated along for longer than I ever have before, feeling very comfy under the big stiff canopy.

Make a point of finding Solaris at NABX and give these kites a close look even if you don't have time to fly one. They are just different enough in material and construction to be interesting.
