Mayor's Welcome to Buggytown
Hey Sailors,
Welcome to Buggytown 2008!
We've been waiting for you.
The playa is hard and dry and the weather looks like it'll be just fine for this year's extravaganza.
Couple of considerations to help ensure a quality Buggytown experience.
Please set camps right up to the old access road ruts.
The pits will be the area immediately in front of Buggytown.
No kites, buggies or landsailers in the car park area.
Please bag your kite when grounded in the pits. This helps keep lines on the ground and your kite from getting snagged or blown around.
Speed limit (for automobiles only) is 30 mph on the access road and 5 mph in Buggytown.
There is no Sheriff of Buggytown (We don't need no stinkin' badges) so every one of us needs to be responsible.
Help prevent problems from even occurring.
You'll be living in a town populated by some of your best friends - Even if you've never met them before.
Bring your good karma and share your love.
Safen Up! Buggy On!
"Often wrong... Never in doubt"

Really looking forward. Half my stuff arrives in Las Vegas at the Rio tomorrow and me Sunday.
Just spent lunch looking at the satelite photo on Google MAps of Primm and the site, making a virtual trip from LV to Buggytown.
What is the large oval in the middle of the south end of the lakebed? Race track?

The large oval is a fences off retention pond. There is suppose to be some bad stuff there that is why it is fenced off. Many years ago Primm was a
mining town and I think it is run off from the mines. Just stay away and you should be fine. This will be my fourth trip and I have not started to
glow in the dark yet.

Love Canal in Buggytown; great. Thanks for the info. I'll stay away more for the fence than the contents; fences eat kites!

Your right Susan it's a Lithium evaporation pond .On google world you'll see a track on the Playa that looks like a horse racetrack.I know cause I've
been there but this track is not there in real life, and it don't show the lithium pond .Funny ,if ya click on balloon it says Playa !At least they got
that right !Be carefull going back there cause theres a pipe vent that sticks out of the ground.Back by the pond is also private property so like
Corey says, Try not to go back that far and respect Buggytown !Theres plenty of space and it's quite a ways to get back there.Just don't get stuck
there with a flat or something cause you be camping ther overnight ,Unless you've got a cell.and even then Most will leave ya there cause they want a
good laugh in the morning .Just kidding I hope ??????.......One more day and I'm outa NY !well time to pack the bags a third time ,more stuff more
stuff ! One more note to newbes on Playa, the far side of lake closest to the highway is a place you want to avoid,as the lake evaporates the rocks and
stuff build up paralell to the fence and sometimes even with glass from cars throwing garbage out there windows .Most of all you don't want a gust
putting you on I-15 but that ocasional rock/bolder don't help any either ! Dirt devils ?.....I'm gonna let someone else who got sucked up in one tell
you how fun that could be if your exp.....ANYONE ?

It is a runoff pond for mines, but the mines up the hill along the 15 freeway on the California side. It runs down that big hill to the pond.
