Update: its blowing like ****

Steady 25-30 gusts to 40. The lake is really smooth on the edges but the center is quite rough. The west end is fairly smooth and nice for long runs at speed.

Empty lake bed, waiting for company.

More or less the same tomorrow and even windier Sunday!

(click on each day's Forecast Details for the wind predictions)

Gotta feel for the folks driving into that headwind. Take care Susan and Brad!

Hey Dave,
Spoke to Brad @ 6:00PM and he was an hour out of El Paso. They got on the road @ 2AM and had not stopped. Said everything fine, so far. His toy hauler is Primo!
Look forward to meeting all you kite folks, but won't be until Thursday night for me. We buggy around here in a stadium parking lot with many wind shadows, so I am looking forward to wide open spaces and real wind.
Good Wind!
Mark

Hey Mark, looking forward to meeting you too. I talked to Susan as she was driving through El Paso last night. Brad had been giving her a hard time for driving so slow.

Speed limit is 80mph out in west Texas, but 70 is tops for her. I told her we did 85 all the way out there and back a couple years ago, and that's why I didn't let her drive. She said she probably wouldn't give Brad that little detail. :tumble:

Anyway, at the rate they're going I calculated they would still be there by noon today if they didn't stop to sleep. That's about the time me and Joe Irby will get there, assuming that nasty headwind doesn't slow our flight down. So the race is on!

PS The lakebed looks great Chip! See ya in a few!

Can't sleep. Too excited about being there in less than 12 hours! :singing:

Great photos. See you all around 1 or 2 pm.

Another really windy day, starting with 10mph winds in the morning and building to the mid 30s this afternoon. Buggy Town superior has blossomed to 30some people by this afternoon.
lots of good bugging and a plauge of flat tires. And by the end of the afternoon Corey managed to get his buggy off the roof of his van. ;-)

Superior was great!

Ah, I'm back in suburbia now, but had a blast on Saturday as part of the buggytown community. Thinking we might just head straight to Superior and skip Elmers next year.

My daughter Emma loved buggying with all of you, and at age 11 I think she did a great job. Thanks for a great dinner too; I hope the brew and chocolate we supplied was acceptable.

See you all next year!
