Lines singing in 5mph !?!
I had the 12m ace out today in basically no wind. I had a few minutes where I had a steady 5 mph and the lines were singing loud and clear. I thought
that was a high wind thing, but I guess not. What is the requirements for line singing ? I do know that when the lines are singing you are having fun.

I had the Quadrifoil KiteSurfer XXXL out today in light winds and had the power lines singing too when the wind got up above 5mph and I was picking up
speed. Must be some physics thing combining line tension and harmonic frequencies.
It was fun - 3" of fresh snow, no tracks on the lake, and bright sunshine.:singing:

I think it has more to do with line tension. Like a 5m in 15mph wind pulls the same as a 12m in 5mph wind so they both have the same tension and sing
at different windspeeds. We are just used to flying smaller fixed bridles so we have a preconsived "singing wind speed" Has anyone ever had a depower
sing? I had my bomba up in 15 yesterday and it didn't sing.

It's called resonance, under low tension the note is sub-sonic. The pitch is directly related to the amount of tension. The volume of the note is
controlled by the wind vibrating the string.More wind, more volume.

I find that the singing is sweet noise in my ears. What it means to me is that I'm well powered ( = to tension on the lines ) and can make the kite do
what it's designed to do ! :singing:

I'm not pointing fingers, but I've noticed that my HQ kites sing a lot more than my Ozone kites. Is this directly related to the bridles? Knots vs.
sewn, three rows vs. four.

I think it's more to do with the size and shape of the lines.
My Q line sings real loud, real early :singing: But it creates drag :barf:
I love them when there are observers around. They sound scarey they are so loud :cool2:
