Small Depower Advice

Hey Guys I weigh 140lbs and just need some advice on a smaller depower to add in the near future. I got a 7m Montana II . for my skill level in 16mph+ it's a little too powerful for me, and i still get a little freaked out when i feel the wind blowing my hair a little all over and i got a (remember i am noob) 17ft kite in front of me about to go up.
I only feel safe when the wind is max 15mph Any advice on what size is good for me to go down to on windy days. give me some kites to do research on!!:D

Depowers dont get too much smaller. Have you tried trimming her down or moving to the least lifty setting on your front line trimmer knots? If you looking for a non lifty depower, the HQ Apex or Ozone Access will fit the bill. They will still lift but not like your M2. Ive flown that same kite and it does have a lot of pop.

As you gain experience you should be able to hold down that 7m in 20-25 mph winds in the future. Id stay with what you have, trim and tweek until you find your comfort zone. Chances are your next purchase will be a larger depower. The M3 9.5 would be a nice addition, once your ready.........

I do play with trim on more windy days but because i am still a noob the kite flys to the zenith and drops like a rock before i can even trim. last time was last weekend wind was 18+. I will just need to play with the knots more. thanks for the advice

be patient youll get it........Dont forget to use the trim straps......Try this.....on downwind runs trim her down using the straps. Once you turn and go upwind power up the trimmer. This should help and give you confidence.............

The above info is all great advice. The only thing I can add is make sure you launch on the edge of the wind window. Hot launches can be painful.

Ozone - Cult 4.5m / Yakuza 2.2m, 3.4m / Samurai2 3.0m / IMP 2.5m / IMP Quattro 1.5m
Peter Lynn - Pepper II 3.0m

I have flown a 4m Ozone access. It suits the things that you are looking for in so much as being tame in those winds. Problem is it's REAL tame and may leave you jonesing for more power ! A great tool for working things out and teaching others but not much of an engine.

Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.
Flysurfer : 19m Speed 2 SA, 7m Pulse
Peter Lynn :18m Phantom, 15m Synergy, 10m Synergy, 1200 Farc, 460 Sarc, 130 Tarc, 5m Peel, 4.2m , 6.4, 8.5 C-Quads, 3.5 LS2 single skin.

Rides: Flexi / P.L. Frankin'Buggy , Shaped + straight skiis, sand skis, Coyote blades. Core 95 ATB. RKB R2 ATB .

Used to have an ozone access 4m, which I sold, as I don t feel I needed smaller than my Flysurfer Pulse 7m as a depower kite, and this applies to snowkite, mountainboard and kitesurf.

I feel than in high winds, my 7m fully depowered gives me more stability than a smaller kite which is faster. High winds often mean gusts on inland.

WELL PUT !! I wanted to say that but am still too new to my Pulse and too in LOVE so thought I had a slanted opinion.

I still haven't found the top end and have never felt the least bit uncomfortable under it. This is the 1st kite EVER that has made me feel this way :D

Sell the Montana and buy an 8m Pulse II . If it's better than my 7 it will be almost a 1 kite quiver !!!
