Check marine supply shops. Probably not a lot of them in your neighbourhood, but I have seen these on the net.
Breakup happening yet?

This is the shortest setup that allows the most link line and kite control. I do use a different type of release.

So you want a pulley that will open up like that so you dont need to tie the strop though every time? Is there anything that will go right over a
belay loop? (QR wise) I would like to skip the caribeaner....it adds like 4" to my reach. Is that just a wichard QR?
Is anyone else thinking zipline......?

I use a biner but run it through the holes that a climbing rope would run through - not just to the belay loop. Basically the holes that that loop
runs through - I just follow the same routing with a larger biner. This way it doesn't add any length. I'm having a hard time getting used to the
distance to the handles / bar using the hook on the waist harness now because of it but I'll sort that out.
I got my Wichard from a marine supply shop here (about $80CDN and worth every dime). If we have a sailing shop in Edmonton - EVERYONE must have one!
If not let me know and I'll send you phone / email addresses for this guy. I'm sure he'd gladly help out.

I'll prop my own set-up again, which I think has been linked to by Bladerunner:
http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?action=attachme...
The shackle is the Wichard 2673 (NOT a piston shackle). Block is Holt Allen HA1375.
Same parts as BBrex uses, but set up differently, like: http://www.embado.com/kitesurfkit/chickenrelease/features.ht...
I use it like this because most of my kite bars are set up with Loos stainless thimbles instead of chicken loops. I like the bar close to my body. I
can still use chicken loops on the spreader bar hook. So it gives me many options for handles and bars.
Look around for another thread with a post by Zloty. He dislikes the Holt Allen block - felt it was short-lived in sand and not strong enough for his
liking. He uses a big Wichard snatch block with a releasable cheek that is fixed to a Wichard piston snap shackle. Can't remember the model number,
but I think it is a single unit, not separate parts. I like the block, but advise against a piston shackle. Zloty has never had a problem with his
and I'm sure he goes through gear like crazy. But I have had a Wichard piston shackle jam on a headsail on my sailboat. Not life threatening in that
case, but I won't hitch my body to one.

Hey
Krumly uses the large block while I use the small block, you need to keep the overall length of your setup as short as possible when flying with
handles. The longer your setup is the shorter your x-over/strop will be, which will lead to problems in manuvering your kite. When you fly with a bar
you can get away with the extra length and will need the extra working capacity weight when kitesurfing especially when you get boosted into the air.
To make setup even shorter you need to remove the pin that holds the two doors at the hinge and replace it with a stainless screw and nylock nut this
way you do not use a shackle to attach your block to your winchard. Be carefull as not to create too much heat when grinding the end of the rivet off
or you will heat up the abs plastic and your block will be wasted.
