Sod farm fading away!
Well I guess it's that time of year. They are ripping up the sod at our favorite flying field! It is getting really small and the grass is thick. I
don't think we will have it much longer. We were there yesterday (dlish & I ).
Doug showed up later. Good to see him again. Anyway the wind was like alway's The wind meter was showing 9-12mph. Then gusts to 30-35 back to 16
Bla-bla- bla. Blowing NE then E Then switching up again. Flying area cut to a third. Just so in conststiant! OB is about a 2hr drive for me but it
looks like that will be our new spot because after Nabx nothing compares. There is just no area around here and the wind always seems to suck!!
Planning will be the hardest part But there is just no other alternitive. I will drive 2 hrs. For clean wind and sand. Once again I need to move. very
frustrating being a kiter and living in an area that stinks for area and wind.:flaming: Summer comming up and that means it will be even worse. Sorry
for all the complaints but I know you will understand. All I have left is to head for the sand!!!

Sorry for the cross post -
I have been thinking about White Lake lately. Has anyone been up there to see if its dried out yet? With fuel prices being what they are I have been
hesitant to drive up to see this early in the season. I have seen a few places selling diesel for $4.39 a gal here in Sac.

Hey guys - I finally registered on the forum (this is Doug by the way of the 3-D's) - here's the poop for this weekend -
Saturday April 19th forecast for Ocean Beach -
The wind should be a steady WNW pushing at 20 to 25 till 5:00 PM
Low tide is at 5:00 at which time the wind will be picking up to roughly 35MPH!!! (and maybe beyond -- ewwww. . . scary)
It will be a sketchy day - but as Dagon knows - it's a good time to whip out your Gps's and set some new records.
I'll definitely be there and I know that your curiosities will get the better of you. The only draw back on a day like this will be that heading up
to the north end of the beach will be a trial in such strong winds - your sides will be sore for sure the next day, but the run down to the south will
be a thrill not soon forgoten.
I'll see you there and don't forget to dress warm and bring a change of clothes if you take a dip - the temp is going to be between 46 and 52 with the
wind adding a considerable wind chill.

Doug welcome to the forum. What finally brought you out of silence? I hope to make it to OB this weekend, but not sure I will be there. the following
weekend it looks like I will be there. We have plans to visit friends in Berkeley and there is no way I'm going to be that close and not try and get
some runs in.

If you can make it you will be spoiled for the rest of your days - 30+ days are intense. I'll be going early (8:00 am arrival) to catch the early
morning winds for a good warmup for the afternoon. Hope to see you there.

Doug welcome to the forum! Good to see ya here. Had a good time at the farm last weekend wish I could have stayed longer. I really hope to go this
weekend but same as Dlish I think next weekend for sure. I would love to be able to get there with those conditions But I have to work and already had
some other plans that can't be broke. Thanks for the update and will be seeing ya all soon on the sand. I also need to get a seat for my bug the one I

It's been pretty consistent here in Monterey Bay and surprisenly early morning winds to match the tides ..... plus the high winter storms pulled a
butt load of sand off the dunes and redeposited along the shoreline giving me extra room to ride on even if the tides aren't in minus ....
in the pass 15 years I can't remember seeing the beach this wide
30+winds today 20mph the sand starts to blows
audios to most of the people giving me less to avoid,, but it doesn't fail that one person that thinks it perfect to launch their cheepo kite
w/cotton line:evil:

Nice I like it there also! I have not got to ride there yet but with the beach expanding I bet it is really nice. As far as the cotton line guy try to
look at him as a future power kiter.

Awesome!
That is exactly what I am looking to do, I want to try out a buggy and some other kites. Then pick your guys brains a bit about the qualities of a
good buggy. Then build a custom one

I wish I did not have to work. Tomorrow looks like good wind for sac. Then without fail on the weekend wind dies off and the heat comes in.
