ankle brace

Messed up my ankle pretty badly while landboarding in the gusty winds on Monday. Got a free elevator ride up to a higher floor than intended, then dropped.
I'm sure some of you have had ankle injuries before, so I'm looking for some advice on ankle braces and rehabilitation.

Thanks,
Joe

I twisted my ankle a few years ago real bad playing Ultimate. My cleats were new to me and were more aggressive than my ankles apparently. I found a GREAT brace that kept me playing for the rest of the season.

I got it from a homecare medical supply place here. Not sure what the equivalent sort of store would be in the US. It was the est of the least "bionic man" ones I could find and worked great.

dont wear the brace to long or your ankle becomes dependent on that support and then your more likely to injure your self again in the same spot. i know from experience i have broken a few bones i still rehabbing on some old injuries due to improper treatment. good luck and wish you the best of recoveries.

I ended up getting a McDavid Ultralite from Sports Chalet:

Very comfy and good support. I like it because I can wear it under my shoes/boots.

I've damaged my ankles really bad in the past and still have bruising from almost 10 years ago. The best thing for a sprained ankle is rest. If it hurts stop doing what you are doing. Trust me on this. I wish someone had smacked me on the head and made me sit down and rest.

Broken bones are one thing but pulled tendons and ligaments take a long time to heal right.

No brace will make up for time needed to heal.

I wear a pair of the ASO braces quite often the link is in Macboy's post above. I highly recommend them.

The McDavids look to be nearly the same as the ASO - they'll do you good.
