Starter board?

http://www.mbs.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idProduct=216

Just got $200 and am starting to look at getting an ATB so I have something to ride, and be more comfortable w/ kitesurfing this summer. Is this a decent starter board for me? I am 135lbs and will be jumping eventually.

I think im gonna go with the one I posted above, seems like a decent board for its price. It doesnt have that cheap look. It also has a brake on it, which is a great feature to have cuz I know if I get an ATB I will be cruising somehills. The brakes are usually removable right?

Thanks again guys,

These are 2 that may go pretty cheap. Both are better choices by far !

I own the blade. It is REAL BIG and heavy. Shipping will be a bit !

http://cgi.ebay.com/MBS-Comp-16-Mountian-Board-green_W0QQite...

http://cgi.ebay.com/MBS-Blade-Mountian-Board_W0QQitemZ290225...

Something looks a little wonky with that one binding on the Blade. I would ask about it. A picture with it together like the other would be good ?

starter board

maS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-em sell ya one w/no brake

when Mountain boarding,- downhill
you'll want to be able to powerslide/skid to
slow down, its more fun.,

other wise it looks like a decent choice for KGB

just make sure that its not a kids board,
that you don't out-weigh it or anything.

first board

ALSO,

maybe I'll make a photo of it,

my first board was a Mongoose, an orange one
its the model w/full size wheels and tires
but no tubular steel frame

I put THE BIGGEST tires possible on the wheels
so big that I had to sand down the four inside
points where the tires rubbed the deck

even with the original tires,
the thing is very heavy
and is likely about as old and as heavy as the
aforementioned MBS Blade

it is great for really bumpy gnarly grass
great for riding around
I'll use it on frozen ground too ,...
before I beat up my new ride, again, on frozen grass,

You will most likely be best of with that first
board, lighter is better

I want something w/ a brake though, so if I get one w/ a brake can I take just the cable off? Is the Atom 95X a decent board? It has a weight limit of 180, I weigh 135.

That Blade is a FAR better board. Oversized deck and tires so it will handle rougher terrain. Wider and very stable. Adjustable egg shocks.....

Well that blade is in Colorado....that would be nice. Maybe he's even close enough I could go check it out and just write him a check. What sounds fair? $100? Can you get a brake for all boards? I know I will want to do some downhill and am kinda a sissy, so a brake will help alot.

Yeah, you'll want channel trucks for sure. I'm getting a great deal on the Core 95, but I might go for the Comp 95 to get better trucks. [and the ratchet bindings are really nice too.]

Is the ground where you are at
all smooth?
are you kite jumping
nice and high on foot or buggy?

If yes to either, then get the lighter board.

Is most of your terrain ultra Bumpy?
Something like the Old Overweight Blade will last
FOREVER!

Now I look at the picture I AM SURE the binding on that Blade is screwed. It should have 2 posts like the one in the back and doesn't. It looks like they just took a part of the original and screwed it down. Look and you can see what I mean.
A handy guy like you can fix it just make something like the one that is complete. You should expose it so others don't bid or at least keep the price down! They both look rather rusty !

It is almost impossible to kill a blade board !!! It has egg shocks as well.

Hey Nick,

The MBS comp is back up. Starting at $60 now.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=29022...

Did you pick up the Blade ?

That GI is only rated to 175 lbs ? So is the MBS with brakes you asked about ! I'm not sure if it is the board or the trucks that won't stand up as you gain weight. If it's the trucks, the GI is pre-drilled to upgrade.

Didnt get that blade.....missed that auction by 10 MINUTES CUZ I WAS IN SCHOOL!!!!:mad::mad::mad: Its probably the trucks, which are indeed upgradable. But I am 135lbs now, i have been for at least a year, and I have gained like 20lbs in the last 3. I figure by the time I hit 180, I will have broken it/gotten a better board/switched to PG (srry)/will have killed myself kiting or paragliding. :singing: So would this be a decent board for the next few years/untill I outweigh it, which ever comes first.
My price range is capped at $200 anyways, so I really cant go to much higher than this, and I would rather buy new.

Thanks guys!
