Kite mudding

Was flyin in gusty winds at the local spot yesterday, and it was fresh after a rain, but the only good wind in days... not to mention days off. Set up and got going, fresh rain puddles and all. I knew I'd get dirty, so I dressed the part.

Man was it fun. A bit scary at times, as the wind was either 5mph or pushing 20. My 3.2 was the one I picked for the job (the 2m probably would have been a bit safer). I had plenty of lifts, and lots of butt scudding through the puddles. One good run ended when my board hit a pool of water... I wish I would have gone for a jump, but there was a tree too close for comfort.

As I was taking a break, some fellow kiter had been flying a large surf kite out there, and I asked him if he wanted a go on the foil. He had never flown one before... as he was flying much larger, I felt confident in his abilities. It spanked him, also. I guess its probably what I looked like sailing through the air, too.

It was more fun than I had had in a long time... Like when I was a child, and played in the mud... Ah, the memories.

Tried to get another buddies buggy up and running, too. But as soon as it was set up, it started raining.

But I was glad for it, I needed some good kiting. Been workin far too hard. Somethings gotta pay for my kites!

No pics or vids... Maybe next time.

I was flyin my 3.2 crossfire. Winds were steady 15-18 mph gusting to probably 25. I think I may need to replace the killers after that session, the wind kept snatching the handles from me while tryin to relaunch.

I also got going a bit with my 1.7, it was fun tryin to keep that little, fast kite in the sweet spot. Upwind was impossible with it, though.

Heard about your injury Sthrasher, sorry to hear... You feelin better, yet?

Not as much pain now thanks. But still have the pins in my foot for two more weeks before x-rays to see if they healed right. No kiting for me for awhile still.:(
