Mood: Throw caution to the wind.

All I've gotta say : OUCH! ahhahaha. So today was a crazy day with wind. I came home and saw outside itw as just crazy outside with the wind so i had been anticipating a crazy awesome wind day for my beamer and decided to go out today to a new site i found just recently. It's a school field. So i get out there and i am SO STOKED i got my headphones in listening to some rockin' music, knee pads, helmet, kite(in backpack), and mtn board in hand i'm literally RUNNING out to the middle of the field. It's a field that's surrounded by trees and smaller houses. big field tho. So i get it all set up and launch. I'm flyin it scudding a good amount and i can tell it's pretty gusty because one moment i'm really gettin' pulled the next the kite could be almost floating back down. But for the most part i'm thinking "wow, this really pulls when i get some good wind in the power zone, nothing i can't handle though"....

So, i'm pretty sure you all know where this is going :P . ok so i'm hoppin' on the atb and it's too gusty to be able to get a constant pull. so i give up and start some static flying as i notice some high schoolers sittin' on a bench on the side of the field watching. I'm flying and it's a bit slow so i dip into the power zone and all of a sudden as i'm in the middle of the powerzone i hit a HUGE gust. to give you an idea the wind was rated at 28mph and it's inland idaho so i wouldn't be surprised if it was gusting to 40mph. and guess what? i get pulled STRAIGHT out the front door superman, and i mean i am going FAST. not just a slow pull but neck-back whiplash all out. hahaha. so i'm flyin outta control no idea where the kite's at with my legs and arms straight as i stare at the ground. *f0rgiv3n's thinking right now, wow this is gonna hurt when i land* BAM i land. *well that wasn't as bad as i thought* oh wait, it's not over WHOOOOOSH the kite is STILL in the powerzone, CRAAAAAAAAAAAP and i get superman'd TWICE and the second one hurt worse than the first, i finally got use of those kitekillers today. they saved my freaking life! hahaha. so here i am, at home rubbin' my butt and hobblin' around the house thinking to myself "THAT WAS FREAKING AWESOME!" ahahaha. and at the same time i'm a bit humbled ;) . hahaha.

So to all of you who told me to get a 3m, i commend you thanks for not letting me and many other newbies out there hurt ourselves. and to Beamerbob, dude i now know what you mean by dont' fly in really gusty inland winds..... :P yeaaaaaah!!

I guess since i'm in the locations/conditions is there any other idahoan's out there? :P

I lived in idaho for a few years about 8 to be exact but if you get the chance to go snow kiting i recommend little camus prarie they have massive amounts of snow 6+ feet and its open for miles maybe an ocational tree but in the reservour area there is nothing. I was never into kiting in idaho but i bet that would be the place to try and snow kite. oh by the way. I lived in Mountain home go tigers lol.
