Hiya all...
I've been lurking on this forum for ages, and finally registered so I could put in a bid for tridude's BIV 6.5...
Thanks for all you guys I have been learning from... I'm on the lookout for pulleys so I can make myself some Jellis handles.
I have been flying nearly a year now, started with a snapshot 1.4.
My regular flies are now a Ace 5m and an HQ symphony 2.7.
I fly static on beaches, and plan to move to kitesurfing when I have the money and/or skills.
No buggying / MTB here -- the beach sand is too soft for MTB and most of my flying sites are 50m by 50m when the tide is out...
A few vids up, all light wind stuff, no wild stunts or tricks. Check my channel at
http://www.youtube.com/user/furbowski.
I was born in Chicago, moved to Canada when I was 13, and moved to HK when I was 30, now 40 yrs old and got into kiting while in the end-game of a
long-term relationship gone nasty -- not an uncommon tale, from what I've read on the forums.
Vancouver (well, Galiano island) is home base for me in Canada. I'll be there for a couple months this summer, and hope to drop on Garry point
sometime. I'd love to check out the big beach at parksville
I work as an outdoor educator and corporate trainer, and freelance for a few different outfits in Asia. Wind power is not too new to me: I've got
about 50K miles of offshore sailing under my belt, and probably twice that within sight of land.
I know a few kitesurfers and 2-line stunt kite guys, but I've never met another guy who likes static flying on the beach.
I've spent a bit of time on racekites, my handle there is erikw.
I have a soft spot for pansh, they were the kites that really got me going (2 and 3 m legends were the next step up from the snapshot). But I do find
them frustrating to fly at times.
It will be good to finally post on this forum, shoulda registered a long time ago...
