I don't know where to live!!!

So i love New York, and there is good wind here also but in 2009 i kind of want to get out of such a big city and move away from cold winters but i honestly have no idea where to go...

California was on my list for a long time but i've kind of had a change of heart in that area now, i just wanna live somewhere that's warm and windy all year, preferably has a good place to get food like whole foods or trader joes :singing: and maybe somewhere i can get a decent job but i'm fairly confident i can go full time freelance graphic designing stoof...

Any ideas?! I'm at a loss :)

I have always had a thing for North Carolina. At least they get a spring. I'm in Mass so we go from winter to 1 week of 70degrees back to 40degrees and then BAM!!!! it's 85 and just like that its gone in less than 2 months. at least the wind is great

We left Manhattan over 2 years ago for the Golden Isles region of GA and have not looked back. We hang our outside Christmas lights while wearing shorts and sandals. Our freinds up north stop asking us about the weather because we tell them.
See http://www.bgivb.com/ and link in sig below.

Great kitebording on St Simons and Jekyll Island and very kite-freindly local Govt.

Hot, humid and buggy in Summer but sea breaze at the beach takes care of that- other times you are in A/C.

We have collard greens and grits, but forget Whole Foods, Trader Joes for a while. For that you go an hour south to Jacksonville. Good kiting there and St Augustine. North Florida still not crowded and screwed up yet. JAX airport very convenient to our entire region.

Housing here is stupid cheap.

Hmmmm... sounds interesting :)
What about Charleston or that region? Are the beaches buggy/landboardable then? Hard packed sand?! That'd be great as i never get to landboard these days! I have thought about the outerbanks but still a bit cold for my liking and pretty expensive too...
You paint a very pretty picture of Golden Isles though :) Charleston does have a wholefoods :)

Charleston is gorgeous / more expensive (hence, Whole Foods), but I don't know beaches there. We purposly looked for something more "undiscovered".

Savannah has Tybee Island with several beaches at different exposures for different wind and an active kieboarding community. Loamy sand and not much hard-pack make it tough on the bug, never mind ATB.
Savannah is pretty and fun, but at night about as safe as Falooja, thoough.

We have huge tidal range, which give lots of hard-pack

In case Angus didn't get through to you, he flat has it made. 10 minutes from a fantastic beach. He can unfold kites in the front yard or the back. Great weather. Small town hospitality, large town only an hour away. Lots to offer. Oh, and he has a kite dealership too. and a good one at that.

OOHHH boy, guess I'm going to have to keep an eye on you Dino. But to not want to leave this beach is very understandable. Sometimes I kinda feel like that guy that use to do the watch commercials saying he liked them so much, he bought the company. Well, I moved to the beach....

The seattle area is a nice place to live ! I live 1/2 way between Portland Oregon and Seattle and 20 min from the ocean, and 4 prime kiting spots. The weather is average , but the wind is very good 15 miles inland all the wa up the Washington and Oregon coast. And just a couple hours from the World famous Columbia Gorge..

I was thinking about Charleston myself...time to leave this overcrowded metropolis!

...Surprised no one has mentioned South Padre Island...Computer jobs might be kinda hard but there's always telecommuting...Don't know about the Whole Foods either. But definitely warm water and wind!

Actually, JAX does not have whole foods, but they do have upper end markets for fine foods, and we do too if you go to St Simons Island. We have Publix, which is upper end like Food Emporium in NY.
Jax also has the arts, with a good Symphony, B'way shows, concerts (saw Bill Cosby the other day), so you can get the best of the boon-toolies and metro life.
