Flat wind!

I will tell ya what! When you start to progress in power kiting flat wind is a must!! You may alway's have enough to fly but thats it! I am really pissed at the wind right now.:flaming: It say's 16-17 mph. right now But everywhere I have to fly ends up being a puffy, gusty, limp A@# 5-8!! You can fly around but no buggying, jumping nothing like that! the wind around here Sux! When I first started kiting it didn't seem to be a problem but now Flat constant wind is a must.:borg:

I flew tonight and had the same problem. Winds from 2-10 mph. Ok, get out the Blade of course. I would go from working it to keep it off the ground to running or sliding behind it. I tried the low lift setting and decided what the heck and put on hi lift. I did match one jump with one gust and got about 6 feet. I would rather have a dozen 4 foot jumps though.

I spent a week in Cayo Guillermo in march.

I had a steady ~15-17 knots on shore every day. I surfkited 6 days in a row for at least 3h / day.

I miss that. Now I guess travelling will be part of my kiting life.

Montreal is quite gusty

What do you guys use to check the wind conditions where you fly?

Best site I found is this one.

MSN weather has a good hour to hour condition forecast - it's a good cross-check to the aviation site that you're using (by the way that is a really good and consistent site). - I probably won't be able to make it out this weekend - gotta go into work tomorrow and I'll be hitting the "maker" fair in San Mateo on Sunday - as soon as I get done building the new front end to my buggy I will be able to hit the sod farms or whatever after work - just need the winds!i

I have been waiting to see if you guys were going out this weekend or not. My buddies are going to maker fair tomorrow. I have to deticate one day this weekend to installing sprinklers, so I can only do one or the other (maker fair or buggy).

If noone is heading out this weekend (I didn't hear from Sthrasher yet) then I will prolly head down to maker fair tomorrow and do sprinklers on Sunday.

Flexi, what time do you normally get off work? I am usually free evenings on the weekdays if you would like some company after work one day.

I hate flying in unpredictable and inconsistent wind. It really stinks to be leaning back into a big wind and have it cut out on you. Then you fall on your a$$ and bruise the back end. Ocean wind that is constant and sand is my favorite. Stable wind is a must!
