50m lines

Anybody ever fly with real long lines?
Well I combined two sets of 25m lines to my Pansh Blaze 3m in med winds... WOW the window :o ..... it's freaS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-n huge... go figure :wink2: ... I just hadn't thought it through first... my experiment was that when I sat in my buggy the kite died and when I stood up the kite flew... O.K. mess with me... I figured I get the kite up higher... well I did and the power was consistent had lil changes, less gusty , cleaner... I guess above all the dirty winds... My idea was to figure out if making 5m extensions would be worth hacking a spare set of lines... I doubt that I'll get into the clean wind but if I can get it out of that stag air at the bottom of the window... I think I'm gonna make me some "Screwy Extensions"...:singing:

I reminds me of when I was a kid flying the old stick kites and how far you could get them up in the air... It was a trip thats for sure...

I've flown with about 50-60m lines before. It worked pretty well but it didn't really make that much of a difference except in real light wind. I went back to 90ish foot long lines.

yeah... I agree there was no real benefit and I'm gonna go with the same apx 90' or 30m lines... I'm gonna make 5m extensions and add to my 25m lines... I think that's gonna be an ideal length for me and my area...

i HAVE FLOWN WITH 10m EXTENSIONS ON 25M LINES VERY LIGHT WIND 19m KITE
YES THE WINDOW IS HUGE, EVERYTHING WAS SLOW, THE EXT. SEEM TO ADD MAYBE 2-3M IN FEEL TO THE KITE. FUN FOR LIGHT WIND.
25+25M THAT SEEMS INSANE!

With the super long lines I used 300 pound mains and 50 pound brake lines. The drag on such long lines is huge.

I might have to try this again.

Its was fun to try... I've read a lot on LEI kites and the difference in short lines to long lines and beginning kiteboarders should start short and work there way up... I think this style of learning is a lil old school now but I had the knowledge... so I tried it... It was a 3m fixed bridal foil so nothing too insane... except how high it was, that was defiantly a trip to see...
One of the things I read about the line lengths is that the longer they are the bigger the kite feels... Hence learn on short lines...
I think that it is out of the power so fast on short lines and in the power zone for so long on long lines that it makes it harder to handle... hence learn on short lines... that makes more sense to me... just my opinion...

i been wanting to add the 10m ext lines to my 16m assault because 10-12mph is just weak. And we have that alot. i have only used ext. with c-kites so i've been a little leary. any time i have tampered with the assault lines/bridle it can suddenly be a monster. the rear line slack and frontline bias setup works great in a wide range but bridle seems short on the LE and very weighted. it has a small bar with 2:1. the throw of the bar may make it difficult to control at a greater length. don't know?
Gotta get creative when light wind arrives.
