PL Leash Connection Rings
I've converted an Airush bar for use with a PL but didn't have a clue what to do about the rings connecting the leash to a front line. All I had
around were smallish, but heavy duty keyrings which will do the job as I get acquainted with the kite in lighter winds but eventually I know I'll need
to get something else in place of them - or will I? (Yeah, I will - I know these things won't hold up to the kind of winds I'll eventually have to fly
the thing in.)
Can I trouble someone with a PL bar setup have a look and let me know if they rings are solid steel rings or if the happen to be keyring type things?
Assuming they are solid rings - any thoughts on what I could use in place of the real-mccoy?

They are thick metal rings, they are not overlapped like the keyrings though, they are just bent into a ring, you can see a very small gap where they
join, by the time I get back if there is not already a pic up I can get one for you. Does PL sell them? That would probably be your best bet. And as
far as using keyrings, would you trust it hanging from 30 feet in the air? If not then don't use it.

The rings are solid, welded, stainless steel rings. Don't use split rings (as used in a key chain) or chrome plated mild steel, they will fail on
you. Here's a link to what I'm talking about :
http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/producte...
You need 2 rings to put a safety on one front line, and they need to be the same diameter and size (so one ring won't be able to pass through the
other. Don't skimp on this just to save money, your safety is at stake.

Go figure....I shoulda just went straight to the sailing shop today - OF COURSE they'd have something! Thanks for the replies guys. As it turned out
it wouldn't even inflate for me when I first got out today so I unpacked the Brooza instead and was whooped by the time the winds would have been good
enough. I'll swap out the rings this week.

You'd be fine to use them for testing it, but NO JUMPING OR ANYTHING OTHER THAN STATIC!!! If it starts to lift you, pull your safety.
