I GOT IT!! (Pansh Blaze 3M)

I got it in the mail today!!!! THANKS DLISH!!! You are the BEST!!!!

So, I got it all set out and strung out the lines. I tested them for length. Not bad. less then an inch out, if that.

I got it all hooked to together in my back yard.

Can you believe it?!?!? I live in such a freaking windy state. And the one day I get my kite is the one day in months (literally) that we don't have ANY wind. :flaming: :flaming:

But I didn't let that stop me!!

I took the thing out to our local soccer field and got it all set out. Which took me about an hour, cause I balled up the lines pretty bad. Gotta figure out how to put it up in an organized fashion. Once I got it rolled out. I pulled it to one end of the field and grabbed the handles and took off running with it behind me. It works!! it took off and I turned to look at it, and it turned and went straight down. By this time people had gathered to watch this idiot trying to fly a kite in no wind.

So, then I grabbed the handles and ran backwards. I got it up, and kept it there for a while. I even turned a couple times, all the while running backwards. Finally I ran out of steam and dropped it.

I got a dentist appointment tommorrow morning. I told the boss I will be late coming in. The appointment may go little longer than normal. Weather says 12mph winds at about 10:00 am.

Man, I am sooooo stoked. This is the coolest thing ever. Thank you guys soo much for giving me all the help and getting me into this.

A huge THANK YOU to dlish for hooking me up with a kite

I will keep you posted on my adventures. Maybe next time I won't have to run backwards.

So, does this mean I have quiver now???

I miss the fealing of the first kite. I don't have any excitement for a new kite anymore. Thats why I like to give demos and see the look on peoples faces when they get drug across the park. They get up and say lets do that again with a big cool-aid grin on their face

I know,
My 2.5 came in the mail 2 weeks ago. I finally put it up in the air last Sunday 'cause I was bored. It was low wind but it went up in the air. I said, Meh and put the 13 Psycho back up

It's like all addictions ! We are constantly trying to beat that 1st high and we get it each time we move up to harder stuff . A wimpy little 2.5 just ain't gonna set off the endorphins even if it is new any more. :borg: FINALLY an addiction that's good for me

I still have that passion of opening the new kite. I was like a little kid today opening it up. I'm not sure it is less exciting than my second kite was. Upgrading is just as good as getting the first one to me. Story in other thread tomorrow along with living room pics. Angus told me he still has the same feeling when a new kite comes in and hes done it hundreds of times by now.

Well, I got out of the dentist office and headed for the local soccer field. There was about 12 mph winds. IT WAS AWESOME!!!! I am not sure if I flew it or it flew me. I had my bro-in-law there to help me. The brakes were way too loose, which was a little scary. :o My bro-in-law was skeptical and asked "do you really think it will pull you on a board?" I said here tell me what you think. He took the handles and was like whoaa! Right about then a gust came through and knocked him on his but :tumble:  I took one too. Got a nice grass stain on my shorts. :D

I couldn't have it out very long, cause i had to get back to work. :( But I had a BLAST for about 20 min. It pulled both of us around quite a bit. I need to get the kite killers on next time. It ripped one handle out of my hand and started spinning. That was fun to fix. :frog:

I get the lines tangled every time. It takes me like 10 minutes just to set up  What is the secret? :puzzled: How do I wind them in a way that they can be unwound tanglelessly?

I got it to do loops and back again. I haven't completed a figure 8 yet. I can't wait to go out this weekend.

Hey soccerflyer:
I have had the same kinda weird thing with kites up until i parapacked my kite. I found the link somehwere on this forum someone posted it. basically what you do is stake down your kite, take ur pack over to the kite, fold it up still attached to the lines and stuff the bridle lines in with it, then put it in the pack. Still attached. Now, take the pack and walk back to your handles. kneel down, and grab all 4 lines with one hand while holding the back with the other and start stuffing it into a little pouch you made in the fold of the kite. once you get to the end just put ur handles in there. It takes a lot of guts to try it cuz it looks scary but the next time you fly you just pull ou tthe handles, stake them down and as you walk out pull the lines out, no tangles and it takes WAY less time!!!!

Parapacking sounds risky, but awesome if it works. I will try it. I found several places where people talk about it on here.

{{crossing fingers}} Hope it works. ;)

definately works ... just to add to the post above it works best for me when you stuff the handles in on the opposite side of the bag as the lines. Just find what works best for you.

I'm too chicken to try the parapack but the figure eight winding on the handles works just fine for me and I never get a tangle or twist save for one rotation of both handles. Not that I won't try parapacking - just not now ; )

I just remember which way I started wrapping by saying it in my head - "Over, Over, Over, Over....etc" If you loop it over the top of one end, bring it across, up and then over the other end. Takes some getting used to just as parapacking will.

I should note that safety lines for kayakers are parapacked and work insanely well. You pull out a few feet and give the bag and remaining packed line a good toss and sure as heck it all pays itself out tangle free so I know it'll work (as if all the others here saying it does isn't enough ; )

Angus Campbell tweaked my figure 8 pack up and it is a big improvement. With this method, you don't have to go over both ends of the handle cutting your twisting effort in half. First big change is to hold the bottom end of the handles instead of the middle. Start by pulling the brake leaders up to the top back of the handles and then pull them between the tops of the handles. Then while holding the bottoms of the handles in my right hand, (can switch to left if you like) I wind a figure 8 around my kite killers. This way you get two wraps with only one pass over the end of the handle. Try it once and you'll never do it the old way again. When I have about 5-6 feet of line left, I start wrapping between the handles round and round. This holds everything in place under some tension so they don't unravel in the bag. You might have to twist your handles once when unpacking and you are ready to fly.
I might do a youtube on this since it works so well.

Thanks for all the help and advice guys. This forum rocks!!

Man, ya. Someone needs to do a video or picture tuorial of figure 8. Anytime someone explains it in text i try to understand it and my brain explodes.

That is why I am leaning toward parapacking. #1 it sounds easy and quick #2 I saw on the link above a picture turorial. I guess I am a visual learner.

Well, weather calling for 18 mph winds tomorrow. It will be my first real test. I am gonna fly till my arms fall off. :singing: I can't WAIT!!!

I know you can't! Hey if you get a harness you can fly 10x longer without your arms falling off. But know this a good day of flying will give your arms a work out.
