I'm booked for Sunset beach. Counting down the days... Looking forward to seeing all you northwesterners and Canadians again.

Who is going to make it this year?

Kind of a tough choice really. The first weekend will be quite a bit more crowded being a holiday weekend. But the tides are more favorable that weekend too.

Last year was my 1st so this may be just my perception but I think the 1st weekend is very free for all. I only stayed for the long weekend but I think the racing and things tend to get happening in the second half.

I think there was some discussion about when to award prizes and stuff should be awarded. Even though I won't be there the second half I think it's logical to do the give-aways the second weekend. A reward for those who stick it out !

The second weekend last year was pretty mellow. The first weekend was more exciting as everyone was just showing up and getting together. I think that most of the racing happened during the week.

I plan on being out there both weekends and at least part of the week.

I'm guessing Dirtslide ? What about You and Toolman ?

I booked at the KOA last night ! Unfortunately only Aug. 29 - Sept. 2. Too few holiday days too much fun to be had ! Ft. Stevens is FULL and KOA only has full hookup tent sites left !!!!!

YES, there is a lot of fun and prizes to be had for those who stick it out. Makes going home Tues. hurt just that much more :(

Don't forget about the great town of Cannon Beach to the south (slightly).

Awesome campspot at ... http://www.cannon-beach.net/searanch/

Walk to the beach... , not the SOBB beach... but a great beach... leave the family there and head up to sunset...

Closer than Warrenton...

campin on the beach is not good....between the coast guard and state police, you'll be had....

if you can make it to buggy camp, you'll find plenty of rides....beers and oysters too!

Cannon Beach is a fantastic spot...sunset is ground zero for kite buggying in Oregon...pretty much the whole NW....where Kite buggying has developed and produced so many good riders....the fastest buggies live at sunset....

Kite Ground Boarding is fun,,,I usually bring a small assortment of jumps for the board, gonna build on for SWAV also, extra wide so he can chuck it...

Discover Paragliding will be attending SOBB also...6,000 ft of 2,000lb spectra on a huge hydrolic wench,,,any takers....book it out at www.discoverparagliding.com

BTW SOBB kicks off our indian summer, the best winds come around then and last until about december...1st or 2nd, about the time our first Hurricanes come through..

COME ON DOWN!!!!
There is a classic car show in seaside the first weekend, also the Lewis and Clark kite expo...iquad usually attends....

It's all good. Looks like a banner year for SOBB with lots of unorganized stuff to do. The reason I say unorganized is because there are no registration fees and no one is in charge. The races are held later in the week to avoid the Labor Day weekend crowd on the beach for safety sake. Once again our Buggy Camp Host, Phil Thompson has graciously offered his property for SOBB buggy camp but space is limited.
There will be a NAPKRA circuit race, pursuit races, and maybe even a long distance run or two. There will be prizes for the NAPKRA circuit races but please don't forget to register as a NAPKRA pilot to be eligible to compete in the circuit races at NAPKRA.org because of our insurance policy. For the overall prizes in the circuit race event, Kite Buggy Speed Shop will put up $200 in a KBSS gift certificate for 1st, $100 in a KBSS gift certificate for 2nd place and $50 in a KBSS gift certificate for 3rd place.
Above It All Kites has drawing during the week at buggy camp for prizes and a pizza feed at the shop on one evening.
Be sure to hang around Buggy Camp in the evening and find out what a DuckFart is.

Well, I won't be coming... logistics, money, family, no buggy, no driver's license, the list of obstacles finally made the decision for me.

I'm already planning next year! hoping to work things out so it's the end of a month-long kitefreak road trip!

I'm on the oregon coast now with my family, I know what I'm missing!

cheers, all.
