Chad, Glad you got your money back.
So, did you sign up for any protection program with Paypal? Or is it just part of Paypal or ebay policy?

I ASSUME POLICY
IF THE $ HAD NOT BEEN AVAILABLE THAT'S WHEN THE BUYER PROTECTION PICKS UP AFTER $200. I THINK THE AMOUNTS MAY VERY WITH # OF TOTAL TRANSACTION AND
TIME ON THE SERVICE. I DID READ MOST RELATED RECOVERY STUFF AND STILL HAVE CONFIDENCE IN THE SERVICE. CC IS THE SAFETY NET ON THE WHOLE SHOW, THEY'LL
DO A CHARGE BACK AND PAYPAL CHASES FOR IT.

I've got a scorpion 13 brand new, was going to keep it for my personal kite but haven't had the chance to get it out and fly yet. Let me know if this

I had a P15 and P18. There's a lot of wind range overlap between the two. Of the two, the P15 was my favorite, turning speed was considerably faster
than the P18. The P18 gave me about 2 - 3 mph more bottom end than the P15.
If you're going to use it on the water, I personally would keep an eye out for a Venom I or II. The Phantom was a good kite, but the Venom is more
suited for use on the water IMHO. More controlled launching and easier relaunching (although still not as reliable as a FS or SLE in this area) than
the Phantom (which is nearly impossible to relaunch on the water).
BTW, bummers about the eBay deal. I'm currently waiting for a resolution by PayPal for a similar situation. It's been over a week since I started
the process and still no word from PayPal. I didn't use a credit card, but it's only $30 so I'm not too concerned. Some real jerks out there, huh?
EDIT: I just listed my Venom I 19m for sale...

info really helps......... very tempted to go the FS route . blimps i got and have really had great success with bows and c-kites... the valve thing
with the naish... countless repairs. nemisis 10m is an '05 but ultra fresh use it on land alot sense 12m boxer has 3 valve leaks and i refuse to
nurse it in the summertime.
ebay is good, the garbage it attracts can be challenging.
the size thing with the PL and FS and the water use? hard for me to judge.
i should probably stick to land use with these just to get the feel.
15m phantom = 12/13m c-kite? it's a little of a stretch but that's my sense of it all.
i could use P15 on water(20-25mph) but mainly on land 10-15mph. (137JL @215lbs.)
that's hopefully where i'm going with this, helpful comments?

I weigh 245 and used my Phantom 15 in 18 - 25 mph (although I could use it in higher winds than that, but certainly no less than 18 mph). I used my
Venom 19m in roughly 15/16 mph to 25 mph. The Venom 19 actually turns a slightly faster than the Phantom 15 as I recall, and the Venoms also have a
more solid feel in the air (I had problems with the Phantoms "tip clapping" in gusty, shifty winds). I know there are a lot of FS advocates here, I
personally never liked FS's. Just too finicky in gusty winds for my tastes. They are, IMHO, a completely different kite than Venoms and the modern
SLE's. If you kite in gusty winds, or prefer a kite that is stable by nature, stick with PL's or SLE's.

Have to agree with bigkahuna that the Venom is a much better kite for water than the Phantoms. If you are going to use it on both water and land then
get the Venom. The biggest difference between the Venom and the Phantom is the aspect ratio. The Phantom has a higher aspect ratio than the Venom
does, what this does is make the Phantom better for higher winds with a more aggressive lift but you have to fly the kite very very very aggressively
to get it to perform. The Venom will have a lot better lower wind power and easier to get up on plane or get moving without having to get extra
aggressive with it. The lift is awesome and has a much smoother feel on the water. It will float longer for better hang times without having to get
aggressive with it while your airborne. The Venom is also much easier to waterlaunch and a bit more stable. For land use and awesome speed the
Phantom is a killer! It excels in the higher winds and the more you work it the more power you get. Both kites have about the same amount of depower
which is usually more than what most C kites are capable of. They love long throw bars.
Check out Kahuna's deal on the 19 VI, might be your best bet.

seems the V19 is the best combo rig but it seems a bit big to run on land, i have lei's for water in any condition, except light wind, and when its
light i go to the ATB
lighter winds on land 10-15mph, this is the gap ...if i could use it on the water it would be a bonus, water use not a critical part of the
decision.
PL definitely fits my flying style, 2days and i'll let you know BK, let it go if you have a buyer
the choices and possibilities are hurting my brain! that's why i'm gonna take session on the water RIGHT NOW!
thinking about a new AIR TRACTOR,

I fly my Phantoms on the water. Find that if I toss the bar before wiping out... when I get done wiping out the kite is waiting for me at it's
zenith. Got rid of all my LEI's and use Scorpions or Phantoms now for water use, even though both were designed for land. Great to be able to
kiteboard, then come in and grab a buggy or ATB to dry off with. A 10m Scorp or Ozone Access are my favorite buggy engines.
Great kites...

I have to agree Taper,
I lvoe the fact that whenever i'd crash, wipe out anything. i did not have to worry about the kite and doing a nice huge superman as it crashes right
thru the powerzone. it's an awesome relief having it there, waiting. Granted I haven't gone much in the water with the Phantom, I have had it land in
the water only once - it was a sinch to relaunch [took 3 seconds], maybe that was lucky though - but with the auto zenith, you don't need to water
launch it at much as an LEI.

Taper and Baluk are right about not needing to relaunch a PL very often. Coming from LEI's it takes a bit of time to learn to just "let go of the
bar" during a crash, but that's the best technique as a PL will tend to return to zenith on its own (as opposed to an LEI which will tend to drop to
the water). But it is definitely a tendency you'll learn to appreciate.
Until the release of the Venoms, the Phantom was the best water kite PL made. But the Venom -is- a better all around kite for more reasons than
relaunchability, and Kent listed some of those reasons more eloquently than I am able to. Looking at your current quiver of C kites, I'd venture that
you will find the Venoms to have a much wider wind range in addition to greater stability over any of your C-kites. Too bad you don't have one there
that you can try out to see for yourself. They really are great kites. Although I don't really want to sell my V19, I need a new board more than I
need a "backup" kite, so on the market it goes!

my Phantoms only hit the water maybe one in 60 sessions, i have about 90% relaunch success.I have to re-teach myself each relaunch. The times it hits
the water i have driven the kite into the drink. I use them for both water and land. I tend to kite 4-7 days a week..........aj

The 15m you will have enough power on land at 7mph the land kicks in about 10-12mph and looking for a smaller kite at 25. On the water, 9-10 for
downwind riding. Upwind riding starting about 13-15.Powered up 17+ but you will never feel the gust with the depower.I find that 12p has about the
same bottom end with 35m lines.I will try longer lines on 15p soon and feel i will find a new lower end.I weight 195lbs and ride 145x49 crazy-fly. I
been on arcs since 2000., so i guess i have several 1000 hrs on them. I recently bought the 15p to replace my 15p from 2004-5 that had over 4000 miles
in the buggy and 2-300 hrs in the water...............aj

wow on the water at 10 i got the downwind part.
well, we'll see, if i hook this kite, i will know its limits shortly.
i don't expect to ride on the water at 10, but i will try on both boards .... this gonna be fun!
ATB range sounds solid... definitely a good start.

thanks angus, made my day.
FIRST TASTE OF PL, WOW RIG IS TIGHT... INCREDIBLE POWER IN THESE CONDITIONS
I have to say i have never flown anything in 5-6mph (npw in 5mph is just barely there).
solid upwind runs with powerslides in 5MPH this blows my mind. you can really whip up some riding power with this thing. the open cell foil feel is
different than what i'm use to. as it pressurizes in apparent flight it really stiffens up and stabilizes nicely.
VERY SMOOTH POWER THROUGH ITS SWEET SPOT.
a little soft and slow high in the window but totally manageable
back to back static loops, even 180 degree direction change under peak power right down the throat of the power zone with no brake, nice
easy reverse launch couple times uneventful
a pleasure to fly!
ULTRA BIG THANKS TO ANGUS.
GRATEFUL FOR THE WIND AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE SOMETHING NEW!
