Looking for a spot to fly
I have a two lakes in the area but I'm not sure what you really need for a good place to kitesurf. The first is the southern end of Lake Erie in PA
and the other is an much smaller lake called Pymatuning, still in PA. I fly Flexi open cell kites now so I know I will need new gear but I want to be
able to determine if either site will work before I make the investment. So I'm just looking for some guidlines to make my own call on either site.

-white caps are a dead give away
-make sure wind blows to a nice spot to land
-don't ride alone, make sure someone knows you're there
-has to be a group riding somewhere
-have plenty of options for landing in case you ride downwind of your launch
-wear a wetsuit, added floatation if you have to swim a while
-make sure your harness has a good hook knife!!!!
-take some pics and post them so we can see your spot

Don't bother kiting the small inland lakes like Pymatuming Lake, way too gusty and crowded to be worthwhile. I've kited Presque Isle (near Erie) and
inside the breakwall at Conneaut. There's a gang of kiters that frequent both those spots, hook up with them if you get a chance to get the inside
scoops.

Presque Isle is were I was thinking as it is just 30 minutes from my house. I go to sunset beach every now and again to fly but I have yet to see any
kitesurfers. If you can remember, what beach area were you at? Conneut is not out of the question though.

You can kite basically anywhere there isn't a lifeguard stand on Presque Isle (at least that's what the lifeguards told me). Go to the KiteOhio
website (thanks for that, I didn't have the link handy) and try to hook up with some of the locals. On a windy day you can be sure somebody will be
there. Tell them "Paul from Hawaii" sent you, I think I met most everyone last summer.
Conneaut is also very do-able. It's a bit too tight for my tastes, but offers some very flat, shallow kiting.
Have fun and be careful...
