I noticed that guys either seemed to have ZERO protective gear on........or a full set of pads and full face helmet. Kind of a funny.

Were you in any of the clips BR?

It happened at 1pm on a Tues. I couldn't get away from work that early. :(

YES, people wear what they want around here. Kite killers are also not a must. The LAST thing we want is outside regulation :!:

It works for us in our space. I don't think it works for other folks. If you follow past threads you will see it has been discussed locally and by piece meal also brought up on this forum.

I choose to put my helmet on every single time my kite is in the air. If I had one wish, EVERYONE would ! Everyone on PKF as well but I'm not going to tell you , you have to ! I'm quick to add the rest of the pads as well. On the rare fixed bridle flight I don't usually use KS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s. I'm always attached the the Flysurfers. ( 'cause FDS is so fine ! ) It's my choice !

I LOVE VAN. and I LOVE our "free nature "
We have worked things out and have avoided any big accidents. We have all talked about the need for protection so it may be a good topic for PKF but it's settled around here :singing:

P.S. Notice how fixated they were on the Pulse :smug:
"Mr. Kite" should have been out that day Rip'!

Wow, looked like lots of guys out for a Tuesday afternoon. It looked like a nice spot to fly........I'm jealous.

Didn't mean to sound like I was criticizing the gear choices of the riders. I just the the all or nothing split was kind of amusing. I guess that reflects two distinct philosophies on the matter.

NO offence taken KiteNH ! It was I light wind day and I suspect that the cameras made some folks use less pads ?

TODAY WAS MY DAY IN THE SPOTLIGHT :cool2:

Chum T.V. happened by my local spot today when I was out. I had a flat tire on the blades but gave them a little show anyway :smug: Looks like I'm the next one on T.V. around here :singing:

i couldnt get out early either, as stated before. but DS did a good job sporting the sport and our u-turn kites. FS got some good exposure.

glad you made it on TV this week. when do you know if Channel 13 is coming out? maybe Powerzone and friends will drive up for that too. the more the merrier.

dont we have another local channel? 12 (victoria) or 10?
years back i was on Weird Wheels (Life Network?), land kiteboarding. at least our sport locally has moved from local newspapers to local tv, maybe primetime someday like TSN or Versus.

as for safety gear, its personal choice here, yes we should all be wearing helmets. however if you saw the field size, you would see how small it really is. if it aint blown south, we dont have much of a run, and top speed is about 35km/h or so. also throw in single, dual line kites, dog walkers, runners, cyclist, etc etc.

jellis, when you're in town next ... i'll take you to Joe Fortes, its about a $200 Lunch.

It should be noted that DS only started to wear his helmet when buggying regularly after he wired it for sound.
"Lots of kiters on a Tuesday." Some of us work an early shift and regularly spend weekday afternoons at Garry Point. Others are self employed and often fly during the week when they can. Some booked the day off work just to be there for the filming. We are all show offs who would do just about anything to be on TV.
