Kite in the movies

We saw Journey to the Center of the Earth a couple days ago, and I was surprised to see a makeshift kite in the movie. The explorers need to get across an underground ocean and make up a boat and instead of making a sail to get across, they make a kite out of what looks like a cloth tarp. It had lines coming from each side of a very simple bridle and the lines were hooked to outriggers on the sides of the boat. It didn't look like it would really fly but it was cool nevertheless to see something resembling our kites in a mainstream movie.

When that 12m just isn't enough.

I saw these on the history channel the other day SkySail. I must say it is an impressive system and in case you were wondering just how much an 80m kite pulls in 10mph winds it is apparently 3 tons of force.

80m sounds perfect for you NPW! As long as it has some lift, right?
