NPW's
I just wanted to share what I have heard for all the npw lovers out there. To the best of my knowledge HQ is the only producer of the npw. The only
size they were still making was the npw5 4.8m. I have recieved word they will no longer be making that kite any more as well. So I guess that means no
more production npw's !?!
Thats all the info. I have maybe some other shops can chime in here if they have found other places to get some npw's for the npw lovers out there.

I hope not. The 32 m has major pull. Think smaller.

Agreed.
Granted my 15m will fly in 1mph ... but the wind window is none existent. In 5mph your moving, downwind, forever downwind. No matter how heavy the
combined buggy weight or what direction you point the wheels, you'll be sliding downwind.
IMHO the NPW9 7.6 is about as big as is useful. It will move a bug in winds from 3 to 12mph ... and is the ultimate low wind buggy engine ...???

Susan, what's the difference between npw5 and npw9? Since you said you can make any size, I doubt 5 and 9 mean size. Are they just a different type
or shape?

Well first off nasa wings are a single skin kite so there are no cells.
The npw5 has 36 bridle lines and 3 panels. The npw9 has 48 bridle lines and 5 panels which makes it wider and gives it a higher aspect ratio. The
extra bridle lines give the kite better shape in the wind so the 9 out performs the 5. My first nasa wings were the 5 and now I am switching over to
the 9.
My home flying field is in town. The wind is very gusty and foils do not do well. In gusty winds when it dies down a foil will fall to the ground
but a nasa wing being a single skin will stay up. I have flown foils for many years before I discovered nasa wings and they do so well where I fly
that it has been several years since I have flown a foil. Nasa wings are the way to go for me. I also get a lot of joy making and flying my own
creations.
I hope that this helped.

I forgot to mention that you can fly nasa wings without lines. Just attach the bridle lines to the handles. This works out great in parking lots
with light poles. If you do fly with lines it does not matter what lenght they are. They could be 100 foot and anywhere in between. A few years ago
at nabx we raced nasa wings with 10 foot lines. It was a blast.

Not that Susan needs any more pats on the back... but she really does do great work when it comes to kite making. I've seen many of the kites she's
sewn, NPW's and really large single line kites... and it's all very good quality. Only NPW's I've ever flown were hers... and I had to hang my
head in shame one buggy race when she beat me with a flying rag...

Well happy to report the Lime Triangel NPW5 from the 'bay turned up today ... very pretty design ...
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageNa...
Turns out its a Nasa Wing 190 - 2,80 m2, and I'm really impressed with the construction. Far more reinforcement than the HQ ones. It says "Knoop
Kites" on the bag and kite. Not one I've come across before. Keen to see how it flys now..
Kite, handles, 4 lines and bag for 16GBP delivered ... can't say fairer than that.
Fits into the Nasa quiver nicely ...
NPW5 @ 0.6m, 2.5m, 2.8m, 3.4m, 8.1m
NPW9 @ 3.4m, 5.3mx2, 7.6m, 15m
