Has anyone ever tried a Da Kine Storm harness? That is the only one I can find around here and I have nothing for comparison. Also, does spreader bar type make a big difference?

Have never personally tried the Dakine, but if you can try one on in person, thats a plus. If its comfortable, use it. As for the spreader, Im not so sure about who makes them being better, but there are a few types. Plain hook, roller, and swiveling, rotating hooks. Not sure if this will help you, but I wish you luck.

great harness but I find it sits a little low on my back. I like the height at my back so I can stretch out on a cruise run. With the seat harness you don't have to worry so much about it riding up like a waist harness.

As for speader bars, they will most likely be sold separately. Here it's a matter of preference. Find a shop where you can try out the different types. If you are nailing lots of tricks you might want to consider the Slingshot Surefire Spreader. Good features.

Remember, when purchasing any harness, to allow for winter clothing. I have found that winter clothing can add up to an inch all the way round. That can be restricting.

Thanks for the input. Can you recommend a harness that goes higher on the back? Why would someone need a "hammerhead" or "pivoting" spreader bar versus a conventional one?

The hammerhead shaped hook on the spreader keeps the loop from comming off during tricks or if the line goes slack. The pivoting bar allows the bar hook to rotate up and down with the kite. I don't think this is really a big deal since the kite spends most of it's time out in front of you and not overhead.
