its in canada right now with one more person on the list behind him ... then ??

If there is enough people interested they will release 2 kites to help through the list faster.

Keep in mind people this is a 5m race kite. Its not for beginners nor static flyers. In fact here is the whole deal:

"Before putting your name down on the lists above, please consider the following ...

=====================================

Lets get this straight. The Pansh Sprint is ONLY suitable for experienced flyers. It is a full, out and out Racekite. So exactly like ALL other racekites you can expect:

* Flying straight out of the window (if you let it).
* Luffing in turns, then reinflate right in the power (if you don't keep power on).
* HUGE power right across the window, far, far more than a usual kite of this size.
* A small flyable wind range. Too little, and even if it flies, it won't perform. Much more wind and you'll need a LOT of experience to use the power.
* Its more stable than many Racekites, but none of them like gusts. All racekites need clean wind (i.e coastal)

Because of these factors and the size it is NOT a kite to fly static, or to fly inland. Please only put your name down for this kite if:

* You are experienced in a buggy using a harness. Happy with power downturns, and/or tack turns.
* You have flown similar sized racekites, or are happy flying much bigger (8m+) "normal" fixed bridle kites in the buggy."

Well, that is quite the list isn't it? I still intend on trying it out but will be more cautious than usual
What is the wind range I should expect for it to fly properly? Looks like i will finally have a real reason to use my wind meter other than getting a max. reading!

I will be using full safety releases, gear etc. I have been getting a little stale in my kiting progression- think I have hit a plateau so I am glad to have a new challenge and take the next step.

I'm in canada? :) however, I have flown PKD Combats, i don't buggy but I do ATB inland. I'd like to take a test run for that exact reason though, see how it compares to the Combat on inland sites.

I just want to clear any confusion. This is not my kite that is getting passed and those are not my statements above they are the statements of the passers. They are good statements though. They just don't want someone to get hurt and also there is no need for someone to try this kite if they don't buggy. Static flying this kite will just not be a good experience since thats not what the kite is designed for.
Baluk I will send you a u2u with the list.

If it comes back up to Canada post-December I'd love to get it out to the lake with my skis. Let me know how the rotation seems to shape up. Little use for me in the summer / fall as I don't get a pile of clean wind unless I can be in the middle of the lake.

Maybe RevPaul and I can both get a go while it's here. I'm determined to get him out on the snow this winter.

I very good question, and one the team have been debating at length. The answer is "it depends"....

The best reply we could come up with was ...

"Most 5m Racekites need over 12mph to start performing. The Sprint is no exception. The top end then depends on many conditions including all up weight, flyer experience and wind conditions ..."

For existing Pansh owners one way to judge it is to consider it is more powerful than the Ace5m. So you can expect the top end wind for the Sprint to be lower than that which you would fly your Ace5m in.

The Pass the Pass Sprint list is filling up nicely. Dino, thank you for raising this to people attention, folks please follow Dino instructions in his u2U to add yourself.... (beachrights, thank you for doing this already).

The fisrt Americas PtP Sprint is in the Air on the way to Canada. So as Dino said there is more demand we'll see if we can free up another PtP Sprint to shorten the list.

I'll close with some more brightness ...

you can ATB with or ride a dirtsurfer with a race kite even though its a buggy engine. A lot of fun with some big time acceleration!

Hey Rip, I'll take you up on this one if the demo Dakitez's got going around doesn't hit me first. BTW, had the Butane out yesterday...1st flight in marginal winds. Handled the gusts and the light conditions pretty well and had me going on one of my fastest tacks yet....

macboy,
i have the limited edition sprint on order. i'm not sure if it will be here in 6 days or 6 after it is released (the counter, at pansh forum, says 30 days or so until release). had to get it even if it does not see the light of day much.
the 5m Blurr hasn't pulled much duty yet either. mostly been cooking with the 3m Beamer III.
you won't have to twist my arm any to get me out this winter. wife says she is getting me a snowboard for b-day. i did mention that skiis may be the way to go but i can't remember which was which. skiis or board is better/easier. i haven't skied much and not once tried board.
i think the 7.5 frenzy and 12m Pulse2 are going to work real this winter. who knows what'll be in the big kite bag by then.

you will still have a long wait for the other sizes ... if it took this long just for a 5m, how long for a smaller or larger size?

does Pansh even use CAD Programs to design?

i'm not knocking Pansh, as you can see i did purchase one of these Sprints to try out.

I guess we can pass on the program :smug:

Good point Rip ... we'll see. Pansh history shows us both ... Blaze/Legend/Blaze2 all quickly had all sizes. The Ace took a lot longer, and new sizes are still coming ... (lets ignore the Airlink shall we, which never took off).

As you know producing a range of racekite sizes isn't as simple as scaling one single kite design up and down. The Yak, Nitro ... etc ranges all have several AR across the range.

But with the announcement of the new Pansh sponsored European Race team, you can be sure Pansh just have put a great pressure on themselves to get the sizes out quickly, and to make sure they are all competitive.

I know Pansh are working on it, with the test team having recommended a full range from 2m to 15m. So I think we'll see the full range sooner rather than later.

sorry going off-topic ... first i think i'm addicted to PKF now.

thx for the kind words. I love sharing my #@%$#! with anyone who wants to fly them. Yes i do own a kite distribution business, however kiting first, business second.

all my personal gear is kept with DS, for many reasons, like the fact i dont drive (biking gives me peace and injury too - damn cars), and he also gets out more ... being a few blocks from our local kite park (lucky bastard).

lastly, i've actually sent out my complete race quiver once, and kiteless for about two weeks. however i was more happy to hear that the people with the kites where out enjoying themselves. i cant be everywhere, so this pass the kite program works. i spend a lot of time reading Euro Racing sites, and if i can get a demo here to let people try out, i will.

sorry again - back to topic ... CANT WAIT FOR MY SPRINT TO TRY.

Hi guys, just letting you know that we have a second Pass the Pansh Sprint heading for your shores today.

I've split the list into two, so on Panshforum we now have a list primarily for USA (i.e. Exc. Canada), and one list for primarily for Canada (exc. US).

The master lists have by default to be in one place, so if you want to add your names, to what are now very short lists, please do so on Pansh forum ... enjoy!

Cheers, Andy

Lunchbox-
As you know, the Spirit is in the mail as I write. [Sounds like an album title!] Anyways- I might be passing it on to you without flying it. I royally screwed up my back putting my Sunfish away for winter. I had to take yesterday and today off from work because of the injury and i do not think a 5M race kite is good therapy!:P

When it gets here i will let you know if i am grounded or not. If I am grounded I will send it direct to you. Once you are done can you PM me to see if i am flying again? If I am I ask you to send it back to me and I will fly then send it onto the next person. Basically we will be switching places in line. I really would like to try it sometime!

And of course, the wind has been great the past 2 days!!
Thanks-
Beachrights
Paul

Hey beackrights, sorry to hear about your back ... take it easy. Heal quick!

It not me posting it on, as its a Sprint coming back from the Race team. I may have been premature (apologies) because I got a PM today to say it was boxed up ready for the post office tomorrow.

Need to check, but if Lunchbox, or beachrights you can get me your address (PM on PF would be best), I'll have to see if we can get it straight to you Lunchbox ...

Cheers, Andy
