Nahant is open on Monday

A permit has been secured for traction kiters to ride at Nahant on Labor Day between the hours of 9am and 3pm.

Unfortunately high tide is at 1 but there may be some good hours if the crowds are light.

I believe there is a general kite flying event going on - nothing official just the KONE guys getting together and Greg got a permit to ride for all who are interested.

Great... I'm working! Are you even able to ride with the crappy high tide time?

If beach traffic is up it will be difficult to ride at high tide - especially if a lot of riders show up.

When I got kicked off the beach on Memorial day weekend, I hung around until just before high tide flying sport kites and talking to other riders. I threw a foil up and jumped on a board right before I left that day and it was just about high tide. I could ride but the wind direction at that time was somewhat cross shore so my rides were toward the water and then back to the soft sand - not ideal but doable for very small runs.

well if Nahant beach was anything like i had at my local spot about an hour south of the beach. Ugghh was a nightmare for me. Wind was 14mph gusting to 24 mph. I ain't use to that LOL :eekdrull: wind was blowing from the West South west which in my spot I have the bike path downwind , litterally 5 ft away from the path. which means i had to pull her down everytime somone was walking that way....and of course it was sunny and 60 degrees so everyone and there dog and gerbil was out walking LOL. :Ange09: people were calling me rude cause i wasn't allowing them to spectate me:crazy:. LOL if only they knew it was because the wind was gusty and i didnt wan't the thing collapsing on them on the path. I didn't get too much flying time in. but it was nice to at least be out. I havn't flown in 2 weeks. was on vacation, and the time change only allows me to fly on weekends now that it's getting dark when i leave work on weekdays.

It was a good day in deed. Lots of nice kites and lots of different kites in the air and lots of boards and buggys cruising the beach and on the other side of the causeway a couple of kitesurfers were doing their thing. I rode for about 3 hours with maybe a total of 15 minutes rest during that period. Lots of fun.

Excellent day indeed!

I rode from 10:30 til 4:30 with minimal breaks on my 6m Access, 4m Access and 6.5m Blade IV.

I remember 10 kiters being there and very few other people on the beach. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen so many kites in the air.

Jeez all you guys out there flying and no pictures to share???

dgkid, have you been to Nahant before? If not its well worth the hour drive if the tides are right and the wind is from the East or West.

When did the blade come out? Did the wind drop that much after I left?

Anyways yeah, was a good day :) Gonna be while before we get the next one like that!

Adam, I left at 4 and was glad I was back at my car at that point. The wind really laid down as the sun got low in the sky. I think I would have been stuck if I was down the other end of the beach on my 2.5. All the kiters were back at the base camp around 4. I was leaving and thought they were too but apparently they broke out the low wind stuff. It got pretty still as it got close to dark - at least compared to what it had been.

Yea, I think it was just about 4:00 when I got out the Blade. I brought all my other kites up to the car and when I came back with the 6.5 I was surprised to see everyone else packing it in.
I threw it up and made a few nice runs. The wind had died down a lot (obviously) and had gotten really smooth. The Blade was in its sweet spot and I had plenty of power for some long slides on the board. I probably went faster then than I had all day.
When Paul saw that he thought about getting out his 6 but with all the stuff he had to put away there really wasn’t enough daylight left to be worth it. I ended up being the first one out and last one still riding. I don’t think I’ve ever put in that many hours in one day before.
