I am onto something...
I have thought about how I can get a quick release and use it with my handles, because I love the control I get with them as opposed to a control bar.
Lots of people have suggested lots of things, the most popular being the use of a witchard shackle. But dang, they are expensive. After looking at how
my chicken loop is set up, I figured someone could pretty easliy make something similar for handles.
I finally got off my lazy bum today and figured it out. I have taken a number of pictures, and will be putting them into a document sometime in the
next day, or so, to show others how to do it. It is a prototype, but it seems to work, far as I can tell. It needs a couple extra things, and I will
mention them in my "paper".
Does anyone know of a website that I can store a word document at for free, so I can post a link to it when I am finished??
The total cost of assembling the one that I did was about seven dollars, and with some tweaking, I think it would be a great thing to have for anyone
that likes to fly on handles.
I'll keep y'all posted

I have made some up using this site as a basic guide
http://kiteboarderz.piczo.com/projects?cr=6&linkvar=0000...
What could be cheaper ?
I just flip the cotter pin over above the knot on my handles rather than through a loop like the picture shows and it works fine. I put a ring on one
with a pull ball. I just made the sleeve mushroom shaped for easy grab on another.
So far I am pleased with the results. Not a single false release and it will pull under load , no problem. The only obvious drawback so far is I lose
a bit of travel on the one side of the strop ? It is the same basic principle as many of my factory releases.
I don't understand why more people haven't started working on this concept. At the same time they get all excited about the more expensive + CAPTIVE
set up with the wichard and pulley :puzzled: I don't like flying captive to a fixed bridle

that a feller might be able to copy it? Like how it attaches to the foot pegs? I hope you don't mind.?

UM,
I think it was Ken #3 that brought a couple of couplers back.
Free, from Jellis
I know he took pictures of some set up at SOBB to help us set them up. I'll get him to post them. Right now he is away from town for a few days . I
think Ricardo has the couplers though ?
We will be putting one of the ones He brought up together this weekend I expect so I'll try and get pictures.
Judging by your quiver you are probably also like me. Made the releases but end up flying fixed bridles very seldom. When I do I'm often demo-ing it.
I keep one strop with Q.R. loose to throw on any kite I use but if the one I'm testing just has a plain strop already it doesn't bother me.

Alright, got the file hosted by mediashare, thanks furbowski. It is available for download here It is a microsoft Word document.
Please keep in mind that this idea has not actually been field-tested, it needs a couple of things before I will be happy with it. But I wanted to get
it available, get some feedback, and hopefully make kiting safer for everyone.

hiya...
the file uploads fine, quick and simple, you picked a good host!
I couldn't quite make sense of how it fits, got lost somewhere between the small and the big loops, think I'd have to build it to make sense out of
it, but will have a go when i get back to HK. anyways, it's late for me and I've had more than my share of the night's wine...
good one, dylan!

Hmmm... I just checked it, and it worked for me. I use firefox. There are a number of pop-ups that my comp tries to block, but ultimately I can get
the file.
I'm thinking a video on youtube may be in order. It would be easier to follow, also, than my document.
I'll start working on it here pretty soon.
