Going to Try to Buggy

I've been scoping out places to LandBoard and I've noticed serveral Beautiful open grassy areas I've scoped out (in San Francisco Bay Area) are not LandBoard Friendly.

So, I'm going to try to learn to Buggy but before buying a buggy, I would like to know if any of you buggiers in the SF bay area would be willing to rent me your buggy for a few sessions. :wee:

Thank you in advace...

If the Folks at Ocean Beach are half as cool as they seem on here I suspect you can go down there and jump in someones buggy ? Most folks are good about sharing gear and a buggy is hard to destroy so not too big a risk to loan.

Hey Roger,

Just give me holler the next time you're at Shoreline on a weekend. Feel free to ride my buggys anytime dude. You know I've got two so you can try one of them while I ride the other.

We have rain in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow, so hopefully it won't be too wet on Sunday otherwise I can meet up with you there after 1pm. You got my number, just call me first before heading out.

Late,

e

I need to get you and E down to the sodfarm and we would have about 6 buggies for you to try. Plus I have some de-powers here you need to experience.

Also just a warning ... Once you try the buggy you might not want to get on a board any more :dunno:

Artlessing and I may be down at Ocean Beach on Sunday - it's hard to tell right now what the conditions are going to be so I can't give you a definite - if you're interested throw me a u2u and we'll play it by ear - if you look in the gallery under buggy - mine is the lay-Z-boy - a home-built that may not be the prettiest bell at the ball but she gets the job done. Nobody on this forum rents - it's a sharing place. Though for me it would be a loaner for periods of the session - I gotta take my baby home with me.

I'm impressed with the response from the Kite Buggy Enthusiast here in the Bay Area. You all are cool peeps!

Elkiter, I'll call you tomorrow and maybe we can meet somewhere in the East Bay before heading to Shoreline this coming Sunday (10/19)

I'm planning on selling one of my MTB to generate funds for the Buggy and I hope the Flexifoil buggy up in Sonoma County will be still available when I'm ready to buy.

If ya ever make it up to Vegas, give me a ring and you can take out one of our full race buggies for a spin on the playa. Careful though, it'll spoil ya! :)

Thanks Elkiter for letting me try-out your kite buggy.

It was a humbling experience for me thinking "Hey those buggy guys got it made, they just sit on their buggy". After a quick tips on what to do, I launched my kite and sat down. The buggy and I moved down wind and struggled upwind. First thing I noticed was the strain on my lower back. It was not comfortable ride for me.

After a couple of times the line got caught on the rear left wheel (don't ask me how I did it), not knowing how to stop (Junior, you forgot to tell me how to stop), I actually enjoyed it. I'm glad no one was filming me because that would have been hilarious.

Elkiter, you make the sport of Kite Buggying looks so easy and I now have found new respect to all of you that are into the sport of Kite Buggying.

12get12,

Now that you've got your first taste, I'm pretty sure it won't be your last.
Go get your buggy already!!!

You did very well yesterday. Going up wind is always the obstacle you run into when it's your first try. Honestly, you didn't do too bad at all, untill it was time to stop. I skipped that instruction on purpose (he he - just kidding). But you were also smart to figure out what to do when you were in trouble by letting go of the kite. This is where those kite killers, help.

Over all

I'm happy to help two flyers yesterday who were both extremely ecstatic at the end of the session, one was a complete newbie, and another was a first time buggier.

So far we have been blessed with awesome wind as of late. Low wind season should have started few weeks ago, but man it's still blowing. Hopefull it extends to another month.

I'm new in the buggy realm as well and from the few I've met and talked to, they are as cool as it gets.

@flexiblade-I think I talked to you, if you're the guy who called Dagon this past weekend. If ya head down, drop me a PM and I'll follow you down or carpool if there's room.

I thought the Kite season was year round but I guess the wind is going away for a vacation and with that, I'm going into hibernation, save money and buy my buggy this coming Spring unless an awesome deal crosses my way.

So what do we do during off season????? Snowboarding????

Practice, practice, practice. The better you can handle your kite static, the easier it will be to transition to flying while moving.

Good point Scudley, and yes a lot of use ski's, snowboards and skates. Winter winds here tend to be very steady and the Lakes give you room to explore and hone your skills. I never put my kites away except in Hurricane season...lol
