Let's go Check on the Beach
I could use a beach/kite/buggy day.
October 25th sounds like a great day. It's about a month before DBBB, and would provide good information on beach conditions and how things are
looking.
Dunno if the roads to SLP are open from either direction yet... AJ??? Heard Bluewater Highway from surfside to SLP suffered damage, but not about
the road the other way.
If the roads are clear... anyone else want to warm up their buggies before Turkey Time?

Count me in for the road trip....have not had a kite in the air since the end of July at Crystal Beach..
I have this twitch in my wrists that can only be explained as needing a kite(buggy) fix.....so count me in on the DBBB recon team.....maybe East beach
may be worth a look see...............Herb;-)

I think Crystal beach is definetly out for kiting right now.... The whole pennisula looked pretty wiped out for the most part. Told my son to stop
buring my firewood....him and his friends want to burn it as fast as I can stack it seems. Still have a tree to cut up though, so wood for DBBB is
definetly available for anyone who wants to come get some... I'll haul as much as I can down.

I am back in texas, i will do a recon mission soon. This was posted at xl site today.............aj
We can Ride In Galveston!
The event yesterday in Galveston was a success! The city would not let us get in the water at East beach, but we did do some kiteboarding West of
there past the seawall at Woodys. The official rules are no one can go into the water east of the seawall...yet. More details below...
Back To Ride
Kiteboarding in Houston
East Beach is open and in great shape for land boarding or land buggy riding, we did both yesterday. We didn't make it down as far west as Luis Pass,
but I've heard it is open and in good condition. Woodys was safe and fairly clear of debris, we'll plan to do another ride soon and keep doing it
until things get back to normal. Stay tuned.
As far as the Houston Shop goes, we are open for buinsess as usual with normal hours. We still have a few of the closeout kites in stock as well as
the brand new 2009 gear including Cabrinha boards and kites, Best kites, MBS on the way, Slinghshot on the way, and Liquid Force on the way. Stop by
or call and we'll give you the skinny.
Thanks to those who came out yesterday and rode, we are one step closer to normal riding in this area.
After a 2 hour session at Woodys on the east end of the island, everyone is chatting it up. It is good to be back on the water!
Garrett Hazely tries landboarding for the first time and finds out he is a natural!
The Levee situation:
We have been in touch with the Texas City Parks and Recreation department about the Texas City Levee. They don't know when Skyline drive will be open
again; unfortunately it is the responsibility of Galveston County to conduct the cleanup effort (and they are busy). I offered the help of a few
hundred kiteboarders and was graciously denied. We'll keep you informed of the progress.
No matter if it is open or not, the first good northern wind plan to be at the Levee to conduct a water debris seach. We can make sure there isn't
too much debris stuck in the mud out there and it is safe to ride.

Was a nice sunny day. Started out with almost no wind, and got up to around 10-12mph in the afternoon.
The drive in was impressive in it's own right. Sailboats lying along the road, large boats sitting on what used to be bait camps, and the highway
lined with sand in places and solid rows of debri for miles and miles. Tent cities here and there along the road to the pass.
Beach is getting cleaner from what I hear, and the sand felt just as good as always on the toes. I'd joke about how on the way to the water tower,
go towards the water at the sprinkler heads/hot tub jet section, but back towards the dunes near the tv's and refrigerator, but nice and smooth near
the oven. Just don't turn around by the metal spike...
Was high tide most of the day, but I'd bet at low tide there will be some excellant clean hard pack to zip around on. Most of the west end was still
in the dark. The condo complex had rented large lights shining on their outsides, but everything else was dark with only a few random houses with
generators/lights. Stopped on the seawall on the way home... was strange to see no lights along the water.
See ya'll at the beach :bouncy:
